Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Ending Lifelong Enemy

Learning from her past mistakes, Bai Yue had much fewer blind spots now in her second battle with Nie Li.

Nie Li felt frustrated by this, as he could no longer defeat Bai Yue with the same ease as before. This though didn’t change the fact that Bai Yue was still weaker and sometimes sustained injuries.

With each new injury, Bai Yue improved from gaining new combat experience. The progress was now rapid as Bai Yue entered an immersive state just to win against Nie Li.

Seeing how his current tactics were no longer working, Nie Li changed his plans.

Nie Li stopped attacking as frantically and began to intentionally show off his own blind spots to draw Bai Yue in.

Due to a lack of experience, Bai Yue didn’t think much about it before falling into Nie Li’s trap. Attacking what she thought was a weak spot, Nie Li easily dodged out of the way and hit Bai Yue mid attack.

This caused a heavy injury that Bai Yue had to back away from to recover. Now on her stomach was a large, dark spot that was swelling, caused by Nie Li’s attack.

Trying to recover from the blow, Bai Yue was back on the defensive, as she was no longer in the position to be attacking.

Finally having some breathing room, Nie Li looked to the side to see what Jiang Yun was up to. Like usual, Jiang Yun was watching the battle closely to ensure Bai Yue’s safety.

Since killing Bai Yue wasn’t an option, Nie Li decided to quickly enact his plan at this moment. This was the only opportunity he had now that Bai Yue was no longer capable of attacking.

Raising his stick, Nie Li brought it down on himself, intending to kill himself to end his torture. It didn’t go as he wanted, as the moment the stick got close to his body, it stopped.

An unimaginably strong force was preventing Nie Li from lowering his stick any further. Nie Li didn’t care and continued trying to end his own life.

"You can stop now," Jiang Yun ordered. "I won’t let you die so easily until you die by Bai Yue’s hands. Now go back and continue your fight with her."

Hearing this, Nie Li gave up, as he knew he couldn’t overpower Jiang Yun. Any effort that was used to struggle was just wasted, as it wouldn’t amount to anything anyway.

Finally out of options, Nie Li accepted his fate as a little girl’s training partner and wanted to at least die honorably in battle.

Seeing as Nie Li was ready to fight again, Jiang Yun released the restraints that prevented him from moving. With his freedom returned, Nie Li went back to fighting Bai Yue.

Due to the severe injury sustained, Bai Yue was once again on the defense as Nie Li inflicted more injuries on her body.

As the injuries stacked up, Bai Yue fell to her knees, unable to continue. Her energy was now depleted again, and her body was completely swollen and unable to move.

With Bai Yue out of commission, Nie Li stopped his attacks, as continuing would just be wasted effort. Instead, he sat down and began trying to recover his drained Immortal energy.

Nie Li knew if he continued his next attack, Jiang Yun would just step in to stop the fight. Instead of wasting more energy, recovering his depleted energy was a better use of time.

Jiang Yun saw that the battle had come to an end and was surprised by Nie Li’s act of stopping. To destroy an Immortal Emperor’s pride was no simple feat, so seeing Nie Li give up was a sight to behold.

Still, since Nie Li understood his current predicament, Jiang Yun didn’t need to change anything, as this was the most ideal result.

With Bai Yue incapable of continuing, Jiang Yun came over and gave her another pill to heal her injuries. Feeding it directly to her, Bai Yue’s injuries soon healed as her swollen body returned to normal.

Jiang Yun then fed her another pill to quickly recover her Immortal energy. Not long after, Bai Yue was back at full power and was ready to fight again.

Jiang Yun returned to the side and went back to just observing the battle.

What surprised Jiang Yun was that the fight didn’t begin immediately, as Bai Yue seemed to be waiting for Nie Li to recover. It seems she wanted a fairer fight now that it was her third attempt.

After half an hour of waiting, Nie Li stood back up with all of his Immortal energy recovered, reaching his peak condition.

Now that Nie Li was ready, Bai Yue didn’t wait any longer and continued the battle.

This time the fight was a little less one sided, as Bai Yue learned when to attack without being punished. The attacks yielded minimal effect, as they only grazed Nie Li.

Still, it was progress, and Bai Yue was somewhat proud of what she had accomplished. This feeling soon disappeared as her Immortal energy drained and she was put on the defensive again.

The defense also soon crumbled as her body was being injured constantly, and the mistakes increased due to fatigue.

Not long after, the same thing happened where Bai Yue was too injured and tired to continue fighting. She once again kneeled on the ground, unable to move.

Nie Li immediately went back to meditating to recover his energy to prepare for the next fight. He now had a new goal, which was to hurt Bai Yue as much as possible before his inevitable death.

It didn’t take long before Bai Yue was back in fighting condition, as Jiang Yun had to help Bai Yue once again.

This continued for several more rounds while Jiang Yun provided minimal assistance.

Watching all this from the side, Bai Yanfei felt heartache watching her daughter be so heavily injured several times. Whenever she wanted to intervene and help, she was stopped by Bai Peng, as he knew this was to help Bai Yue grow.

Knowing that this was indeed beneficial to her daughter, it didn’t take much to convince Bai Yanfei to calm down and watch from the side.

Bai Peng, though, was amazed at the battle. Bai Yue was locked in combat against a suppressed Immortal Emperor, which was quite a feat.

Bai Peng could only imagine in awe the future achievements of Bai Yue once she ultimately grew strong enough to win this battle.

The battle continued as nobody interrupted Bai Yue and Nie Li’s fight. The only intervention was when Jiang Yun stepped in when Bai Yue couldn’t continue to fight.

In this way, dozens of attempts passed as Bai Yue constantly improved and lasted longer against Nie Li. With each attempt, Bai Yue decreased her time on defense and began attacking Nie Li instead.

Finally, after an unknown number of attempts, Bai Yue finally started to gain an advantage, as she was now completely on the attack without Nie Li having any chance to counterattack.

The fight had become one sided as Nie Li’s defense was constantly breached, which resulted in a new injury on himself. Nie Li knew his time was coming to an end with Bai Yue’s current power surpassing his own.

With whatever strength he still had, Nie Li pushed himself to the limit to have one final honorable battle with a stronger opponent.

With each exchange, Nie Li’s exhaustion increased, leading to mistakes being made. New injuries kept appearing, which swelled his body, preventing him from moving as he wanted.

Once Nie Li’s entire body was covered in cuts and blood sprayed out everywhere, Nie Li could no longer continue and waited for his death.

Nie Li now felt satisfied, as dying in battle wasn’t so bad now that Bai Yue was no longer the weak little girl from the start of the fight. Now she had turned into a respectable Immortal, and dying by someone so strong was a decent end.

Bai Yue didn’t keep Nie Li waiting long, as with a simple slash, Nie Li’s life ended and his lifeless body collapsed to the ground.

Bai Yue was quite satisfied with the outcome, as the enemy that had caused her trouble as an infant was now dead by her own hands.

If it weren’t for Jiang Yun, she would have died without ever growing up. So, ending Nie Li’s life gave Bai Yue unending amounts of comfort as a huge burden was lifted from her shoulders.

Having finally finished the battle, Bai Yue went to regroup with Jiang Yun. With a face full of joy, Bai Yue showed a large smile in front of Jiang Yun.

"Shall we head back now?" Jiang Yun asked.

"Let’s go back," Bai Yue replied. "I miss the Invincible Cloud sect after being away for so long."

"I’ll come too," Bai Yanfei interjected.

"Then I wish you all well," Bai Peng chimed in. "I will handle the aftermath here myself, so go without worry."

The two women nodded as they began to levitate off the ground, with Jiang Yun following close behind. The three then took off to head back to the Invincible Cloud sect.
