Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Only Sienna Can Stay By Julian’s Side
About half an hour later, Keith Sterling pushed the door to the hospital room open again and walked back inside.
Seeing Sienna Everett’s slightly red-rimmed eyes, Keith didn’t say anything, pretending he hadn’t noticed.
’If his brother knew Sierra cried for him, he’d probably be both happy and heartbroken.’
Keith Sterling nonchalantly shook his phone and said, "That was my sister on the phone just now."
"Your sister?" Sienna Everett’s voice was a little nasal. Her eyes darted for a moment, and she quickly remembered.
’It was that girl, Claire Sterling. She had called Julian Forrester on his birthday.’
"Yeah, my sister has been abroad for the past few years. My parents must have called her about what happened tonight." Keith Sterling put his phone back in his pocket, sat down by the hospital bed, and continued:
"My sister bought a plane ticket and was planning to come back right away, but the weather there is bad—too much wind and snow, so the plane couldn’t take off. That’s why she called. I told her everything’s fine and not to worry, that there’s no need to rush back. Julian might wake up any minute now."
Sienna Everett nodded. "Safety is more important."
’The plane couldn’t take off, so there was no need to risk rushing back.’
Keith Sterling glanced at the sky. The darkness outside was veiled in a clear, silvery glow, and a sliver of dawn was visible on the distant horizon. The night had almost passed.
"Sierra, are you sleepy? Why don’t you go lie down for a bit?"
"It’s okay, I’m not tired."
"All right then." Keith Sterling didn’t press her further. It wasn’t just Sierra; he didn’t feel the least bit sleepy either.
When morning came, a few doctors came by on their rounds and changed the dressing on the wound on Julian Forrester’s back.
Everything seemed fine, but Julian Forrester was still in a coma, showing no signs of waking.
"Doctor, how long do you think it will be before he wakes up?" Sienna Everett stood to the side, unable to stop herself from asking.
The doctors exchanged a glance, and the most senior one stepped forward to speak.
"The wound on the patient’s back isn’t serious, but he was struck on the back of the head by a heavy object. As for when he’ll wake up, that depends. It could be a few hours... We just examined him, and his condition is stable for now. We’ll check on him again this afternoon to see if he’s woken up."
Sienna Everett’s brow furrowed. "Okay, thank you."
A little while later, Samuel Sutton arrived at the hospital, supporting Julian’s grandfather, along with Mr. and Mrs. Sterling.
Samuel Sutton had brought some breakfast.
Sienna Everett had no appetite and couldn’t eat.
Worried, Keith Sterling tried to persuade her, "Sierra, you’ve been up all night. If you don’t eat something, your body won’t be able to take it."
Hearing this, the old man immediately put on a stern face. "Sienna, I know you’re worried about Julian, but you must eat something. Otherwise, when Julian wakes up and sees you like this, he’ll hold this old man accountable!"
Hearing his playful words, the gloom in Sienna Everett’s heart lifted a little.
But she truly had no appetite. She forced down a few tasteless bites, just to get something in her stomach, then put down her chopsticks.
The old man walked to the bedside and looked at his grandson, who had been unconscious all night with no sign of waking, his expression grave.
He turned to look at Sienna Everett, who was standing nearby, and felt a measure of comfort.
’This grandson of mine has had a rough life. His parents passed away when he was just a few years old, so he barely experienced their love. And I, his grandfather, am getting on in years. Who knows when I’ll just pass on.’
’From now on, the only one who can always be with Julian is Sierra.’
’That poor Sierra’s parents and brother are the way they are...’
’Thankfully, the two of them can rely on and accompany each other...’
The more the old man thought about it, the more he grieved for his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, and he couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh.
"Grandfather, what’s wrong?" Keith Sterling asked nervously.
The old man waved his hand, his voice tinged with world-weariness. "I just remembered that today is the first anniversary of Julian and Sienna’s marriage registration. And yet..."
’They’re spending it in a hospital.’
Sienna Everett lowered her gaze, her fingers tightening slightly around her water glass.
Hearing the old man’s words, Keith Sterling’s spirits sank as well.
Samuel Sutton looked around, opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say.
In the end, it was Mr. and Mrs. Sterling who offered a few words of comfort to soothe the old man’s heart.
In the late morning, Sienna Everett received a call from Ian Prescott.
She stepped out of the room to answer it.
Ian Prescott didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point. "Sienna, I heard Julian Forrester was injured and hospitalized?"
Sienna Everett was slightly surprised. "How did you know?"
’Didn’t Keith Sterling have the news contained?’
"Don’t worry," Ian Prescott quickly explained. "Keith Sterling did suppress the news, but I heard some whispers."
Sienna Everett wasn’t overly concerned. With Ian Prescott and the Prescott Family’s resources, they could find out if they really wanted to.
"Yes, he’s in the hospital now."
"How is he doing?" Ian Prescott asked with concern.
’Although he regretted that Sienna Everett had married so young, Julian Forrester was her husband, after all. For her sake, he had to show some concern.’
’Besides, if something really happened to Julian Forrester, wouldn’t that make Sienna Everett a widow at such a young age?’
Sienna Everett, unaware of Ian Prescott’s train of thought, simply said, "He’s been in a coma since yesterday and hasn’t woken up yet."
"A coma?" Ian Prescott frowned. ’Is it that serious?’
Sienna Everett leaned against the hallway wall, wearily rubbing her temples. "The doctor said he was struck on the back of the head by a heavy object. They can’t say for sure when he’ll wake up."
Ian Prescott’s expression turned grave. "I’ll come visit him at the hospital this afternoon."
Sienna Everett didn’t refuse his kind offer.
After a brief chat, he hung up. Ian Prescott looked up at the apartment building in front of him—this was where Ophelia Warren lived.
He had come to see Ophelia Warren in person today to confirm whether or not she was connected to the Prescott Family.
The weather was gloomy today, with a light drizzle falling from the sky.
Ophelia Warren stepped out of the building. Just as she was about to open her transparent white umbrella, she caught sight of a tall, languid figure nearby.
The man was leaning casually against a wall, one leg slightly bent. A cigarette was pinched between his well-defined fingers, its tip a speck of crimson light, with white smoke curling languidly upwards.
As Ophelia Warren sized him up, the man looked up. His face was so handsome it seemed to have been meticulously carved by the Creator himself. Even in the dim light, she could make out his exquisitely perfect features.
Ian Prescott’s lips curled into a slight smile, but his voice was as cool and thin as an autumn rain. "Miss Warren, do you have a moment to talk?"
Startled for a moment, Ophelia Warren nodded nonetheless.
Only then did she notice the tall bodyguards standing behind the man.
In a coffee shop by the street, they sat at a table by the window.
Ian Prescott got straight to the point, explaining his reason for being there.
After listening, a look of astonishment spread across Ophelia Warren’s lovely face. She stared at the man opposite her, her eyes wide with surprise. "You mean to say, you’re from the Prescott Family, and I might be your long-lost sister, so you want to do a DNA test with me?"
Her surprised expression made it seem like this was the first time she was hearing about this.
Ian Prescott gave a nonchalant nod.
’It was strange. Ophelia Warren’s features did bear a slight resemblance to Sienna Everett’s, but he felt no sense of familiarity or kinship when facing her.’
Ophelia Warren lowered her gaze, gently stirring her coffee with a silver spoon. After a long moment, she finally spoke. "Although I grew up in an orphanage, I don’t think I’m your long-lost sister."
Ian Prescott finally showed a flicker of interest. "Oh?"
Ophelia Warren put down the silver spoon and looked directly at the man across from her. "The director of the orphanage that took me in said I had a tag on me that said my surname was Warren. That’s why they named me Ophelia Warren. So, I don’t think I have any connection to the Prescott Family."
Ian Prescott’s eyes narrowed slightly before his lips slowly curled into a smile. "If that’s the case, fine. Then you have no connection to the Prescott Family."
With that, he stood up and tapped the table with his long index finger. "This coffee is on me. Enjoy."
He then turned and left.
Watching Ian Prescott’s retreating back, Ophelia Warren was momentarily stunned.
’The Prescott family’s second young master... Why is he like this?’
「Meanwhile, at the hospital.」
The restaurant manager came looking for them, trembling with apprehension.
Sienna Everett remembered. Yesterday, she had asked the manager to check the restaurant’s security footage. And yesterday, someone had tried to lock her in the restroom.
