This has led to the javelin event now having two world records: one is Uwe Horn’s 104.8-meter "eternal record," and the other is Zelenskiy’s 98.48-meter "current record."
Chen Jue’s Strength Attribute had just broken the 1-point mark. His ability to throw it over 60 meters was entirely due to his powerful learning ability and the support of his Max Level [Hidden Weapon Throwing] skill.
With a bit more progress, breaking the 66.10-meter mark would put him at the level of a first-class athlete, which was why those physical education students had been so enthusiastic.
...
Having unexpectedly gained a brand-new sports skill for his hands, Chen Jue was in high spirits.
With a new, targeted skill, he could ensure the steady improvement of his hand strength, allowing him to quickly close the grip strength gap between him and that ten-million-dollar gold brick.
But before that, Chen Jue needed to try some more scientific arm exercises.
After dinner, he returned to his apartment to rest. He went online and bought a javelin and a shot put, then ordered a 50kg-grade power twister.
Relying solely on a hand gripper to train his finger and grip strength was no longer enough for Chen Jue. Ever since quitting his job, he had more and more free time.
The power twister could work out his upper body and chest muscles. He could practice freely in his room, allowing him to fill his idle time at home more efficiently.
Seeing that all three of his main attributes on the panel had broken 1, Chen Jue stepped on his body fat scale to check his current condition.
"Weight: 79 kg. Body fat: 18.3%. BMI: 24.9."
’That’s weird! My weight hasn’t dropped much, but my body fat has gone down by so much.’
’Did all that mass turn into muscle?’ Chen Jue wondered.
Compared to the data from his last weigh-in, his weight had only dropped by 1.5 kilograms. The weight loss wasn’t significant, but his body fat percentage had dropped dramatically.
He figured it was because he had been doing difficult Street Fitness training, which worked his body’s core and burned off the stubborn fat around his waist and abdomen.
However, the human body is a complex system. Losing fat through exercise doesn’t necessarily mean losing weight, as exercise also stimulates the growth of skeletal muscle.
As a result of this trade-off, Chen Jue’s weight hadn’t changed as drastically as when he first started working out.
...
After a busy day, he didn’t do any strenuous exercise in the evening, as his body needed to rest.
He recorded the data from the body fat scale in a spreadsheet. While resting, Chen Jue killed time by watching shows and took some cod liver oil and the Ginseng Slices he had bought online.
The internet claimed that ginseng could improve circulation, boost energy, and fortify one’s vitality, though eating too much could cause "internal heat." He’d have to try it himself for a while to see if it was really that miraculous.
He had never paid much attention to dietary or medicinal supplements before, usually just relying on his body to tough out injuries. However, ever since eating cod liver oil increased his [Constitution], he started paying more attention to his dietary intake.
As for practicing with Flying Cards in his room, that was no longer necessary. His [Hidden Weapon Throwing] was already at Max Level, so there were no more Skill Level gains to be had.
However, he could still do the [Ear Health Exercises]. Since this was a Skill Chen Jue had figured out on his own, its improvement rate was very slow. He could only grind it out over time.
...
After a night’s rest, Chen Jue woke up the next day feeling much more invigorated.
However, his mouth was a bit dry and parched. He wasn’t sure if it was the Ginseng Slices taking effect.
He drank half a bottle of warm water and went upstairs. Following his usual routine, he finished his eye and ear massage exercises.
By the time he got to the park, it was already 7:00 AM. He didn’t see Wu Fang, but Elder Wu, holding a thermos, cheerfully greeted him, "Fangfang is still sleeping in. She’ll be over later!"
The moment he heard this, Chen Jue immediately felt a bit awkward.
’So the old man was just waiting for me to ask about his granddaughter?’
"Well... I’ll go practice some Tai Chi first! You carry on, Grandmaster Wu~" Chen Jue tactfully slipped away to the small grove.
As for Elder Wu, he watched Chen Jue leave with growing satisfaction. ’This young man looks more energetic every day! Too bad his hair is a bit thin. If it grew back, it would complete the look,’ he thought.
Chen Jue had now shed his obesity. Combined with his consistent, high-difficulty workouts, the muscles in his core had started to grow.
As his waist, abdominal, and back muscles grew, his posture, both standing and walking, began to straighten up. With the fat on his face also melting away, his aura naturally began to recover the masculine vigor a young man should have.
The only downside, however, was that his lost hair wasn’t growing back. When the wind blew, his scalp was faintly visible.
Hair loss and baldness were medical conundrums that the entire medical field couldn’t solve. Even with a panel, Chen Jue wouldn’t be able to grow much hair back anytime soon.
...
He entered the small grove and continued practicing Tai Chi with Zhao Jianguo.
The middle-aged Daoist priest he had seen yesterday was still sitting by the stone table. He was sipping tea with his eyes slightly narrowed, softly chanting from a scroll of Daoist scripture laid out on the table.
Although Chen Jue couldn’t understand what the middle-aged Daoist priest was chanting, listening to it gave him a strange sense of inner peace. Even his Tai Chi movements became steadier and more powerful than usual.
After an hour and a half of practice, his Constitution and Free Attributes each increased by another 0.01. The Skill Levels of his various Tai Chi Skills also grew by a large chunk, and they weren’t far from leveling up to the next stage.
"Senior Brother Zhicheng, he’s already gone! Are you sure you don’t want to ask?" Seeing Chen Jue finish his session and take his leave, Zhao Jianguo walked over to the stone table and asked.
The middle-aged Daoist priest continued chanting, maintaining a composed and unconcerned facade. After Chen Jue left, however, his slightly narrowed eyes suddenly flew wide open.
There was none of the murkiness or world-weariness typical of a middle-aged man’s eyes. On the contrary, they were as clear and exceptionally bright as a child’s. Gazing at Chen Jue’s departing back, he said, "No rush, no rush! The right time hasn’t come. We’ll observe him for a few more days."
