Chapter 365 - Chapter 365: Only compatible

Eve’s eyes sparkled as she said, “He actually agreed! He agreed to spend more time with me!”

Alana smiled, pressing her lips together. “I told you so. If you just talk to him properly, he’ll definitely agree.”

Eve rested her chin in her hand. “I really didn’t expect a workaholic like him to agree to do something as childish as going shopping and watching movies with me.”

“No matter how important work is, you still need a life. Besides, you’re his girlfriend, isn’t it only natural for him to spend some time with you?”

Eve nodded. “That’s true, but before, he’d rather give me money than give up his work for me.”

Alana thought for a moment and offered a reasonable guess, “People change. It means your presence is already slowly changing him, and he’ll gradually realize how important you are to him.”

Alana pouted. “No matter how important I am, I’m definitely not as important as his work. Besides, he only made a promise last time, he hasn’t followed through yet.”

“Then have him find some time to make good on his promise.”

“We’ll see. There aren’t any good movies out lately.”

“It’s not just about movies, going shopping and eating out together is part of the fun of being a couple.”

Eve shook her head. “I don’t know. With him, aside from that bit of fun in bed, I don’t feel like we have much else to talk about.”

Alana cleared her throat, looking a bit embarrassed.

“Don’t think that way. Just get along well with him, you might just discover other areas where you click.”

Eve retorted, “Then tell me honestly, besides being compatible in bed, what else do you and your boyfriend have in common?”

Alana choked on her words.

It seemed… they were only compatible in bed.

Eve shrugged. “I knew it. When men and women talk about it, it always comes down to that one thing in bed.”

Alana blinked.

Rough words, but true.

She still couldn’t contain her curiosity. “By the way, who exactly is your boyfriend? It’s been so long, and I’ve never seen you bring him out even once.”

Eve already knew who her friend’s boyfriend was. But Alana didn’t know this new boyfriend of hers.

Eve’s suddenly burst out laughing, “Ha, I thought you’d never ask!”

Alana smiled shyly. “If you don’t bring it up, I feel awkward asking.”

She wasn’t the type to pry into other people’s personal lives.

Eve looked mysterious. “My boyfriend is… pretty amazing. I’m afraid if I tell you, it’ll scare the living daylights out of you.”

Alana smiled. “Well, go ahead. How are you going to scare me to death?”

“He…” Before Eve could finish, a phone rang.

It was Alana’s ringtone.

Alana gave an apologetic smile. “Sorry, I’ve got to take this call.”

She picked up her phone and glanced at the caller ID.

It was the caregiver looking after her grandmother at the hospital.

Usually, the caregiver would just send her a text message with a detailed update on her grandmother’s condition; she rarely called directly.

Alana had a bad feeling and answered the call immediately.

“Miss Martin, bad news… something has happened to your grandmother!”

Alana jumped to her feet. “What happened?”

The nurse sounded flustered. “Oh my, I don’t know how to explain it. You’ll have to come to the hospital to find out.”

Hearing this, Alana grew even more anxious. “Eve, something’s happened to my grandmother. I have to go to the hospital.”

Seeing the urgency of the situation, Eve immediately said, “I’ll drive you there.”

Alana didn’t refuse. She didn’t have a car or a driver’s license, and hailing a taxi would take time, so it was more convenient to ride with Eve.

Little did she know that at that very moment, her grandmother’s hospital room was in complete chaos.

The reason was that Miranda had accidentally discovered the legal agreement in which her grandmother transferred her assets to Alana.

When she read the contents of the agreement, that Grandma was bequeathing her entire fortune, including the property deed, to Alana, she flew into a rage. She immediately started a huge argument with Grandma, insisting that she change the agreement.

Naturally, Grandma wasn’t having any of it. She had already decided to give her assets to Alana, and no one could change her mind.

Seeing that her grandmother wouldn’t agree, Miranda became even more unruly, ultimately causing her grandmother to faint from the stress.

After fainting, Grandma was rushed to the operating room by the doctors for emergency treatment; her current condition is unknown.

Eve dropped Alana off at the hospital entrance. “Lana, go see your grandmother first. I’ll park the car.”

“Okay.”

Alana was already frantic with worry.

Upon hearing this, she immediately nodded, hurriedly got out of the car, and walked toward the hospital entrance.

Alana learned that her grandmother had been taken to the operating room on the twelfth floor for emergency treatment, so she took the elevator straight to the twelfth floor and headed for the operating room.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Miranda and other relatives had already arrived, all gathered outside the operating room door.

Not knowing what was going on, Alana ran over and asked, “How is Grandma? Wasn’t she already getting better? How did she end up in the operating room?”

As soon as Miranda saw Alana, she immediately turned the tables on her, pointing at Alana and shouting angrily, “It’s all your fault! You’re the one who got your grandmother into the operating room!”

Alana froze. “Because of me?”

Miranda glared at Alana with such intensity she was grinding her teeth in fury. “Lana, how dare you say that? How could you possibly keep all your grandmother’s assets for yourself? Do you even have the right to do that?”

The others chimed in one after another.

“Exactly! Give us back all her property, including the deed to the house in the countryside!”

“You’re just an outsider, none of this belongs to you!”

Seeing their indignant reactions, Alana frowned. “You all know?”

Miranda planted her hands on her hips, her voice brimming with fury. “Yes, we all know. We don’t know what dirty tricks you used to force your grandmother to hand over all her personal property to you, but no matter what, those things aren’t yours. Give them back to us right now!”

Alana quickly caught on. “Did Grandma’s sudden illness have anything to do with this? Did you all cause a scene in front of her and make her collapse from the shock?”

Miranda looked guilty. “What do you mean we caused a scene in front of her? We just asked her to hand over the money and the property deeds. Who knew she’d suddenly roll her eyes and pass out.”

Alana laughed bitterly. “You knew Grandma had just had surgery and was still weak, yet you still caused a scene in front of her?”

Miranda retorted, “Oh, come on! I just asked her to hand over the property deeds and assets. It’s not like she had to give them to us. If she’d just handed them over, none of this would have happened!”

Alana’s eyes turned red with anger. “Grandma left all her assets to me. If you want them, you should come after me, not Grandma!”

Miranda seized the opportunity to shout, “Lana, you’re finally admitting it, aren’t you? You’ve taken all these things… now hand them over to us!”

Joan also shouted, “Lana, you’re not truly a part of this family. You have no deep ties to us. You have absolutely no right to take my grandmother’s property!”

The others chimed in one after another.

“Exactly! Why should you get to take it all for yourself while we, the real family members don’t get a single penny? Is that fair?”

“Hand it over now!”

They were terrified that Alana would pocket the old lady’s estate and spend it all, how would they get their share then?

Alana trembled with rage. “Grandma is still in the operating room, fighting for her life. Are you sure you want to argue with me about this? Can’t we wait until Grandma comes out of surgery to discuss all this?”

Her uncle said, “We’re not here to argue; we’re just taking back what belongs to us!”

Miranda nodded. “As long as you hand over everything that belongs to your grandmother, we can work things out!”

Her aunt added, “Exactly. After all, we’ve watched you grow up. As long as you behave yourself and hand over the items, we won’t make things difficult for you.”
