Chapter 120: Chapter 82: Fang Youqing’s Worry

During his afternoon Introduction to Electronic Information Engineering class, Chen Yuan was woken up by his phone vibrating.

It was a message from Fang Youning.

Fang Youning: "My sister wants to call you. Is it okay if I give her your number?"

’My number isn’t top secret. Does she really need to text me to ask about this?’

Chen Yuan: "Sure."

Fang Youning: "Okay, I’ll have her call you after class."

Chen Yuan had a good idea why Fang Youqing wanted his number.

’The kid eats a lot but is still thin. It’s most likely food stagnation and poor digestion. They must have gone to the doctor this morning and gotten that diagnosis.’

After class, Chen Yuan received a call from Fang Youqing. Fang Youning must have told her when his class ended.

"Sister Qing," Chen Yuan greeted her.

"I took him to the hospital today. It’s just like you said. He ate too much when he was little and developed a habit of food stagnation. They also said he has poor digestion."

"And then? Did they prescribe any medicine?"

"They did, but it’s all pre-cooked traditional Chinese medicine. I’m worried he won’t take it, so I wanted to ask if you had any other ways to treat it. If you don’t have a solution, we’ll have to use the medicine."

"Let me think..."

Chen Yuan fell into thought.

’Tongzi didn’t reward me with any healing skills, so I definitely can’t cure him. But there is a way to help manage it—with those recipes I was rewarded with.’

"There is a way, but it will work a bit slowly. It requires long-term commitment."

"No problem. It’s not an urgent illness. I’ll have him try it first."

"I’ll send you the recipe later."

"How about this? Don’t eat at school tonight. Come over to my place for dinner. I’ll cook for you guys."

Fang Youqing’s tone wasn’t one of discussion; it was more of an announcement.

"Alright."

After hanging up with Fang Youqing, Chen Yuan quickly got a call from Fang Youning.

The two arranged a time and planned to go to her sister’s house.

After returning to his dorm to change, Chen Yuan went to the school gate to meet up with Fang Youning.

"Is there a supermarket near your sister’s place?"

Fang Youning thought for a moment. "There is one, not far from my sister’s. It’s about two subway stops away. Do you need to buy something?"

"Your little nephew has some digestive issues. I need to buy some things to help regulate his system."

"I know where it is. I’ll take you."

"Okay."

They arrived at the subway station, bought tickets, and waited for the train.

He had a message from Song Jianye on his phone, saying that driving practice went very smoothly today and that he’d been praised by Zhou Jianye.

Chen Yuan calculated the time. Today was Tuesday, so the two of them would go to practice again tomorrow. Song Jianye had no classes on Friday, so he would go in the afternoon as well. The Subject Two test was on Saturday, so there shouldn’t be any problems.

The subway arrived, and the two of them entered the car. It wasn’t evening rush hour yet, so it wasn’t too crowded, and there was one empty seat.

"You sit here."

"Okay."

Fang Youning sat down in the empty seat while Chen Yuan stood in front of her, holding onto a hand ring.

The pose made Fang Youning a little embarrassed. ’This is the kind of stance a boyfriend and girlfriend would take.’

It wasn’t far, and after about six stops, the two of them got off the subway and arrived at the supermarket by Exit 1.

"Are we buying a lot? Should we get a cart?"

Chen Yuan thought for a moment. "Sure."

Fang Youning pushed the small shopping cart, following beside Chen Yuan. As she looked at the items in the supermarket, she would also pick up a few things she liked.

Chen Yuan, on the other hand, was very focused. Apples, yams, carrots, red dates... he quickly bought everything he needed.

The remaining items couldn’t be bought here; he had to go to a traditional Chinese medicine shop. Luckily, there was one right at the supermarket’s entrance, so he could just buy them on the way out.

"That’s about it. Just these."

"You’re done already?"

Her own excitement was just getting started when Chen Yuan finished, which was a bit of a letdown.

’But I guess all guys are like that, not really enjoying shopping or browsing supermarkets.’

’Oh well. I’ll let it slide.’

At the checkout counter, the total came to less than 100.

Carrying the groceries, they went to the traditional Chinese medicine shop at the entrance.

"What can I get for you?" a male clerk asked as he approached.

"Codonopsis, Poria, Atractylodes, licorice root, and dried tangerine peel. 100 grams of each will be fine."

"Alright, one moment."

The male clerk quickly prepared everything Chen Yuan needed, and Fang Youning paid by scanning a QR code.

After leaving the supermarket, they took the bus back since it was only two stops.

When they got to the apartment, Fang Youqing opened the door.

She was wearing a large-sized T-shirt with gray yoga pants, a combination that created an oversized look.

Fang Youqing had nice legs, full and shapely. It seemed that women who were married and had children were never too thin.

"What did you buy?"

"Chen Yuan said it’s to help with the child’s digestion."

Fang Youqing took the bags from Chen Yuan’s hands. "You could have just told me. It would have saved you the time and trouble of buying it yourselves."

"It’s fine, it was on the way."

The two went inside. Dinner was already served on the table.

It wasn’t takeout today; Aunt Liu had cooked. There were eight dishes in total, mostly meat.

In terms of presentation, it was a little lacking compared to Jiang Wanyi’s cooking, but it was still very good.

They all sat at the table. Fang Youning poured a drink for Chen Yuan and one for herself.

"Sis, what did the doctor say at the hospital today? Is it serious?" Fang Youning asked after screwing the cap back on the bottle.

"From what he said, it should be okay. The rest was pretty much what Chen Yuan said. We have to reduce his portion sizes at meals, and he can’t eat things like Jell-O anymore. He said it could easily cause an intestinal obstruction, which sounded really scary. I was afraid to give him anything to eat today."

"It’s a good thing Chen Yuan noticed. Otherwise, we still wouldn’t know what was wrong."

"Tell me about it."

Brushing her hair back, Fang Youqing said,

"Let’s eat first. We can talk about the rest later."
