Chapter 460 - Chapter 460: She’s Complaining to Nathaniel Sloan, So What?

Chapter 460: Chapter 460: She’s Complaining to Nathaniel Sloan, So What?

"Never mind that Claire Yeats has nothing else; she at least has confidence. A little too much confidence," Estelle Lockwood suddenly thought.

If she hadn’t known in advance that Radiance was a gift Nathaniel Sloan had prepared for her, she might have actually been fooled by Claire.

Did Claire... even know who the boss of Radiance was?

Estelle truly hadn’t expected to run into Claire here today. After all, Claire and Radiance were entirely unrelated.

But Claire gave a soft smile and said shyly, "Estelle, you probably don’t know who the boss of Radiance is yet, do you?"

Estelle immediately raised an eyebrow.

Oh? Judging by Claire’s tone, did she think she knew who the boss was?

If she knew it was Nathaniel, why was she still so confident?

Couple that with Ms. Sawyer’s attitude—they were certain the woman strolling through the night market with Nathaniel last night wasn’t Estelle. According to their logic, they must believe that woman was Claire.

So... why on earth was Claire so confident, knowing full well there were no romantic issues between Estelle and Nathaniel?

Estelle gave her a meaningful look. "Miss Yeats’s confidence is truly extraordinary."

Claire’s eyes turned red.

Ms. Sawyer immediately rushed forward, her desire to flatter written all over her face. She didn’t hesitate to charge into battle for Claire.

"Mrs. Sloan, just because you can’t have it yourself doesn’t mean you can make snide remarks about others! Miss Yeats earned Radiance through her own merit. You probably don’t know this, but the big boss said that from now on, everything will be handed over to the new boss. Once President Kerr finishes his meeting, he’ll officially appoint Miss Yeats as the new chairwoman.

"I advise you not to think about swooping in for a free ride. Just leave! Otherwise, if President Kerr finds out you’ve been bullying our new boss, he’ll have you thrown out!"

Claire smiled bashfully. "It’s not that exaggerated. After all, Estelle is my sister. I wouldn’t do that to her. It’s just..."

She sighed, looking utterly helpless.

"Estelle, Radiance is still someone else’s company for now. There are so many outsiders here. If it were our own company, you could make a scene if you wanted to, but... we can’t make a fool of ourselves in front of others, right?

"So why don’t you head back first? Once I’m done negotiating with President Kerr, I can help ask him if there are any suitable jobs for you."

The more Ms. Sawyer listened, the more agitated she became. "Exactly! Mrs. Sloan, please leave right now!"

Estelle couldn’t help but clap her hands.

"Miss Yeats, you really have your parents to thank for getting everything you have."

Claire looked confused. "What?"

"For giving you that mouth full of nonsense."

Estelle unhurriedly checked the time, her smiling gaze sweeping over Ms. Sawyer and the people behind her.

"Since I’m not welcome here, I’ll take my leave. But I am very curious—how much longer can Ms. Sawyer stay at Radiance?"

Ms. Sawyer couldn’t hold back a sneer. It seemed Estelle couldn’t hold her ground for long. The moment she saw Miss Yeats, she got a guilty conscience and immediately wanted to run away. As for herself? How much longer could she work at Radiance? The future boss was Miss Yeats. By getting on her good side, she would naturally get a promotion and a raise!

Estelle merely smiled. "I’m guessing half an hour, at most."

"You!" Ms. Sawyer was still daydreaming and couldn’t stand being mocked like this. Flustered and exasperated, she yelled, "Get out! What are you all standing around for? Where are the security guards? Kick her out!

"Today is a big day for Radiance. If you offend the new boss, I’ll make sure you pay a heavy price!"

Claire also chimed in anxiously, "Estelle, we’re sisters. If you really like Radiance, I can accept that, but you can’t just sneak over here behind my back. You have no sense of boundaries. As your family, I can forgive you, but what about the others?

"Acting like this out in society is enough to make people despise you. I caught you today, but if I hadn’t, were you planning to steal my company?"

Claire bit her lip. "I’m not a petty person. If this company were my own and you wanted it... for the sake of the Yeats Family, I’d give it to you.

"But Radiance is a gift from my best friend. How can I regift it? A gift represents someone’s heartfelt intentions; it can’t just be stolen away."

Estelle nodded in agreement. "A gift is a heartfelt intention and cannot be stolen away. You’re absolutely right. Anyone who steals a gift is either malicious or stupid, don’t you agree?"

Claire choked on her words. She felt like Estelle was covertly insulting her, but there was no way she would admit it. This gift belonged to her in the first place! Nathaniel just hadn’t publicly announced his identity, but they had been pen pals for years—that was a fact!

Claire sighed. "Estelle, stop causing a scene. I really don’t have time to entertain you. Why don’t you just go sit by yourself for a while..."

"Miss Yeats, you’re just too good-tempered! I simply can’t stand and watch this anymore!"

Ms. Sawyer was acting as the perfect mouthpiece for Claire, voicing exactly what Claire wanted to say herself.

"Estelle Lockwood, could you stop causing trouble? You’re insisting on stealing Miss Yeats’s company just to prove you’re better than her!

"But we all have work to do! We don’t have time to hang around and help you fulfill your sense of personal value. Stop making a mess and just be a good little trophy wife!"

Claire shook her head helplessly. "Estelle... I’m sorry. Even though I’m the future boss, I can’t control how the other employees at Radiance feel. Everyone is very busy. They need to work. Unlike you, Mr. Sloan can just give you plenty of money so you can live a carefree life.

"So, please be considerate of us working people. Don’t cause trouble for them."

With that, Claire bowed deeply to Estelle.

She practically wanted the whole world to know that Estelle was just a spoiled heiress who didn’t understand the struggles of ordinary people, whereas she—despite also coming from a wealthy family—was highly capable, empathetic to her subordinates, and the complete opposite of Estelle.

Estelle thought it was quite a spectacular performance.

She casually swept her gaze over the group of people behind Claire, silently memorizing their faces before curving her lips into a smile and nodding.

"Alright."

Be considerate of this two-faced manager? Sure. Being a manager was truly too difficult, too exhausting. It required overtime and coordinating so many things. Since she was being considerate, she might as well go all the way and give her a permanent vacation.

"Estelle Lockwood, a person should know their own limits. Get out of here! You’re not welcome!" After roaring, Ms. Sawyer turned to Claire with a fawning expression. "Miss Yeats, let me help you upstairs to rest."

Claire nodded helplessly. "Estelle... I’ll head up first then. Think carefully about what you’ve done. Sometimes, relying on your status as Mrs. Sloan won’t solve everything. Even if you go complain to Mr. Sloan, he won’t intervene, because you’re completely in the wrong."

Ms. Sawyer rolled her eyes. "All she knows how to do is tattle. What a joke."

Estelle slowly pulled out her phone.

Well, she liked tattling. So what? Her husband had given her a birthday gift, and Claire had inexplicably claimed it for herself. Wasn’t she allowed to complain about that?

BEEP BEEP.

Nathaniel Sloan received a message, and his expression instantly changed.
