Chapter 108 - Chapter 108: Feeling the baby

"I’ll get her name on a legal certificate."

Elena’s eyes were still wide with shock.

But June seized that opportunity to stand up.

"And who said I want my name on your legal document?"

She turned to leave, but Rauf caught her hand before she could escape.

"I’ll make you want it willingly. I promise."

June swallowed. Not because she was certain he couldn’t, but because she doubted herself.

If he really tried, she knew he would no doubt make her fall for him again.

Her heartbeat rose as she stared at Rauf holding her hand.

Thankfully, her baby chose that moment to remind her that it was still a part of her. The kick came with so much force that she gasped.

"What?" Rauf asked, confusion filling his eyes.

June couldn’t hide the grin on her face.

"It kicked."

Rauf’s face fell in surprise. "It did?"

Then he tried to put on a smile for her.

"Can I touch it?"

At that moment, June was reminded of the woman behind them. Elena was watching them with so much interest, and just to spite her even more, June nodded.

A big smile bloomed on Rauf’s face as he placed his hand on her stomach, waiting for the baby to move again.

June waited too, as though if she moved, the baby wouldn’t kick anymore.

But no sooner had Rauf placed his hand there than the kick came again.

Rauf chuckled, making an odd sound June had never heard from him before.

"Look at that kick. That’s my baby."

The happiness seemed to spread to every part of him.

He placed his hand there again, expecting another kick, but none came.

June sighed. "I think that’s all for today. It’s not every day the baby kicks."

Still overjoyed by the one he had experienced, Rauf couldn’t find it in himself to be disappointed.

"Right. Thanks for letting me experience this."

His tone was low and sincere, and June felt a bit of guilt.

She was experiencing something surreal with this baby, but regardless of what Rauf had done, he also deserved to experience moments with his child.

Didn’t he?

Taking a deep breath, she said, "The next appointment with the doctor is next week. I hope you’re prepared."

Anyone in the vicinity would have thought June had just told him he had closed a deal he had been pursuing for years.

"Of course, I’ll be there. I promised."

Elena continued watching them, and the more they interacted, the more she tightened her fists.

When she couldn’t take it anymore, she stormed away from their presence.

She went into the room Rauf had given her and dialed Samir’s number.

On the second ring, Samir picked up the call.

"Were you able to convince him?" Samir asked in place of a greeting.

Elena sighed. "I’m working on it. You need to give me more time."

"Time?" Samir shouted, making her pull the phone away from her ear temporarily before putting it back. "Time is exactly what I don’t have in excess either. Without acknowledgment from your son, that stupid Serena won’t give Amie access to her funds. Do you think I want to leave my daughter in such a dangerous place?"

Elena shuddered.

The events of the previous night flashed through her mind.

She had thought she was going to die.

And her dearest son had cared about no one but that gold digger.

"I know, but I’m trying to get June away from him. Rauf is adamant. You know how he can be."

Samir scoffed. ℴℴ𝘮

"Well, I don’t care. He’s your son, and you should be able to get him to do what you want. Unless you want the truth to come out."

Elena froze.

"You want me to tell him the truth?"

Elena dropped onto the bed with a thud.

If it weren’t for that, would she be following Samir’s instructions?

"Please, don’t tell him anything. I promise I’ll find a solution to this problem."

"Great. I’ll be expecting a positive response from you soon."

Without another word, Samir ended the call.

Elena remained on the bed.

She didn’t care what Rauf had said.

There was no way she would leave this place until she had successfully dragged June out of his life.

With that thought in mind, she lay back on the bed and dozed off.

An hour later, while June was taking her morning nap, a knock on the door woke her.

She groaned before dragging herself out of bed to open it.

Henson stood at the door with his usual expressionless face.

"Yes?"

June wanted him to say whatever he had come for so she could go back to bed and sleep.

"Boss asked me to bring you with me."

June stared at him.

When did Rauf start telling her what to do and where to go?

"Tell your boss I’m busy."

A little smirk appeared on Henson’s face, making him look more handsome.

"What’s funny?" June glared at him.

"The boss already thought you would say that."

"If he knew I would say that, why did you bother coming?"

"Well, the boss said when I tell you it’s the training ground, you might have a change of heart."

At first, June didn’t say a word.

She let Henson’s words sink in before nodding eagerly.

Did this mean Rauf had agreed to train her?

Soon, she would be able to protect herself?

And more importantly, she wouldn’t need those guards and have to hide who she was because of fear?

Henson waited for her response.

The boss had said she would agree immediately, but June wasn’t saying a word.

"So, ma’am?"

June nodded. "Of course. Of course I’m coming."

She stepped out, almost closing the door behind her.

But as Henson’s gaze moved over her oversized T-shirt and loose trousers, he shook his head.

"You might want to change, ma’am."

She stared down at herself.

Well, it really wasn’t the best outfit to train in.

"Excuse me."

She closed the door in Henson’s face.

And in a matter of ten minutes, she was dressed up and ready to make a change.
