Chapter 655: Chapter 247: Spoiling

Since no one knew they would return today, everyone is already asleep.

The two quietly returned to their rooms, not bothering to wash up, deciding to sleep first and deal with other things in the morning.

Despite the rush, the Jiang family built a large courtyard, where everyone has their own room, even Wei Ziang who only returns for two days each month.

Even though Xiaomi slept the whole day, she was still not relaxed after a long horseback ride at night.

Moreover, for the past half month, she had been rushing around towns nearby on horseback, and stayed up to look at stars and the moon last night.

Although she slept during the day, in summer, sleeping during the day is not as comfortable as at night.

So she just collapsed into bed and slept, not even noticing Little Mi slipping in after catching her scent.

Upon waking up, she felt instantly rejuvenated.

She could hear the chirping birds and insects, and the sounds of cats and dogs, further off, the proud clucking of hens laying eggs.

Xiaomi stretched lazily as she stood up, just as Little Snow walked in.

"I reckoned you would wake up soon, brought you clean clothes, do you want the wash water inside or wash outside?"

Little Snow brought comfortable everyday clothes, even she herself wasn’t wearing the fancy dresses anymore.

In Anning Village, it was the beginning for everything, and they kept busy in both fields and home.

Even though they might not live here permanently, since they started, they must do well in the present and not half-heartedly.

"I’ll wash my face outside. By the way, has my brother gotten up yet?"

Wei Ziang wasn’t any more leisurely either, daily blacksmithing, swinging a heavy hammer silently, just thinking about it made her tired.

"Ziang was up earlier than you, he already ate and went to the fields with dad."

Little Snow said and placed the clothes by Xiaomi’s bedside, then went out: "Change your clothes and come for breakfast, mom specially made dumplings."

Xiaomi nodded repeatedly.

The clothes were newly made, a form-fitting casual outfit, with a pair of pants, so she wouldn’t worry about any exposure regardless of her movements.

When Xiaomi went outside, there was only a little noise in the back kitchen, as others probably went out to work.

Beside the well was a washbasin with a clean cloth, already filled with water.

She, being lazy, didn’t do as thoroughly as her second sister, just scooped some water and splashed it on her face, wiped a few times, then wet the cloth to wipe, and that’s it.

Before in winter, she used to apply pearl cream and the like to avoid discomfort on the face, now that’s entirely unnecessary.

Probably due to the nourishing effect of Spiritual Spring water, everyone at home had fair and tender skin, even her dad’s previous dark appearance turned to a healthy, handsome wheat color.

People still spent all day sunbathing.

Pouring the wash water into the gutter under the eaves, Xiaomi carried the basin towards the back, and even before reaching the kitchen, she caught a whiff of fragrance.

"Second sister, you started stewing beef so early."

Speaking she took a deep breath, indeed, her family’s cooking was always more to her liking.

"Early? It’s almost noon, if you woke later, you’d be just in time for lunch."

Everyone else was out in the fields, still in the reclamation phase, planting was not imminent yet, but various grain seeds were being hauled in truckloads.

Xiaomi giggled as she entered the kitchen, finding breakfast reserved for her on the table.

"Second sister’s cooking definitely is best, I haven’t had it for half a month, it sure is fragrant."

Breakfast included mung bean porridge and egg chive dumplings, along with a small plate of pickles, a very light flavor.

Xiaomi always enjoyed the egg chive dumplings made at home, coupled with the half-month eating outside leaving her tired of it, eating now felt exceptionally delightful.

The only slight inconvenience of moving the whole family was the lack of vegetables immediately after moving, except for some small greens, other vegetables hadn’t matured.

However, there was no shortage of chives.

Little Snow helplessly smiled: "You, eat your meal, your mouth never rests, this morning’s were made by mom."

"Aren’t mom and second sister’s cooking equally good? I didn’t notice the difference at all."

Little Snow shook her head, this little girl was always sweet-tongued, she got used to it.

"By the way, you’re not going with Ziang this time, right? What are you doing running around, he’s off to the military camp every day, aren’t you bored alone in the city?"

Xiaomi delivering supplies to the military camp was days ago, and she was strictly forbidden to let others know, thus Little Snow and the others had no idea.

Xiaomi shook her head repeatedly: "Not going, it’s indeed boring, besides eating and drinking, I don’t know what to do, I’ll stay home and help with work."

"No need for your help, with so many people at home, just don’t run around."

As Little Snow came out from behind the stove.

"You know, we’ve heard, last time you took Ziang out and he ended up sanctioned by the general."

"Ziang spoils you, so he didn’t blame you, nor even told the family, if it wasn’t for the eldest brother mentioning it later, we’d have no idea about this."

Xiaomi’s happy face drooped somewhat, she sulked: "You all know."

"The eldest brother roughly said a few words, you’re used to freedom at home, Ziang now isn’t like at home, he has constraints, don’t keep taking him out, lest he’s penalized because of you again."

Speaking of which, Little Snow couldn’t help but shake her head.

Both were in the wrong, Xiaomi shouldn’t act impulsively, leading Ziang out.

Ziang, as a frontier officer, even if junior, shouldn’t forget his duties, not just failing to dissuade Xiaomi, but they disappeared for days.

They didn’t know the details, but after pondering, they felt probably Ziang was spoiling Xiaomi too much, leading him to disregard everything.

Being reprimanded, Xiaomi obediently nodded: "I know, second sister, rest assured, I’ve been well-behaved now, no more running around."

Wei Ziang’s first overheard words upon return were these, his eyebrows twitched a bit.

No running around?

Who disappeared for half a month, kept everyone in the dark?

He couldn’t just tell dad and mom, but had to keep Xiaomi’s secret.

"Second sister, Xiaomi really hasn’t been running around, stayed in the city all this time, don’t scold her."

Little Snow glanced at Wei Ziang, then at Xiaomi whose gaze was evasive, shaking her head.

"Go on spoiling her, that’s why Xiaomi’s getting bolder."

Xiaomi couldn’t help but mutter: "Who says he spoils me."

Wei Ziang heard, nodding inwardly.

Clearly everyone spoiled her, why was it just his fault?
