Chapter 1918 - Chapter 1918: Packing Up and Leaving

Violet Sutton looked downcast, her eyes filled with tears as she clutched a bag with its zipper half-open, packed full of her personal belongings, some of which were nearly spilling out.

She held it awkwardly, appearing quite disheveled.

After exiting the elevator, she staggered like a zombie towards the lobby doors...

She had finally managed to secure a role through connections, only to be directly set up by someone; Angel’s tactic of using others to strike was really deft!

She truly couldn’t understand, why was it that she tried to make connections with Angel, and ended up cooperating with her in playing out this scene.

Why did she alone bear the consequences in the end?

While Angel remained unscathed?

The director said it was CEO Kingston’s decision, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

But why would CEO Kingston intervene in such a matter?

Earlier, she overheard rumors saying that Abby Sawyer was CEO Kingston’s woman... Violet Sutton could hardly imagine.

Feeling dejected, she walked outside, utterly frustrated, and as she reached the door, she unexpectedly encountered Abby Sawyer, who had just stepped out of her car.

Instinctively, Violet halted her steps, and their gazes met.

In her eyes flashed a hint of panic, with her swollen eyes revealing her disarray.

Abby Sawyer, seeing her in this state, maintained a calm demeanor on the surface, yet couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised inside—what had happened?

She looked like she was packing up to leave.

But a few seconds later, Abby Sawyer stepped forward, intending to pass by her without bothering to confront.

"Wait," it was Violet Sutton who stopped her steps.

Abby stopped beside her, their arms less than half a meter apart.

"Today’s matter was caused by Angel asking me to do this," Violet didn’t turn to look; she spoke softly.

Abby Sawyer was slightly stunned, turning her gaze to look at her profile, while Violet stared straight ahead.

After a moment, she continued, "Angel wants to drive you away, hoping you’d find the job unbearable and voluntarily resign."

"What about you?" Abby Sawyer asked, "Why are you the one leaving?"

Violet Sutton’s lip curled into a cold smile, "I’m taking the fall." Then turning her gaze towards Abby, she added coldly, "Congratulations, on being promoted from a new assistant to the third lead."

Third lead?

Violet Sutton said no more and walked away.

Abby Sawyer, filled with confusion and uncertainty, stepped inside.

While going upstairs, two people entered the elevator with her, they were crew members who didn’t know Abby Sawyer, hence they chatted without reservation—

"Violet Sutton is the director’s relative, such a strong connection, yet she was replaced so easily. Who exactly is this Abby Sawyer?"

"No idea, I’ve never seen her before."

"I heard she’s a new assistant, someone close to Angel."

"Angel is known for her tactics, didn’t expect even her people to have such moves."

"I think it’s Abby Sawyer who is more adept, the director’s people aren’t someone you can just replace."

"I’ve heard Abby Sawyer is CEO Kingston’s woman; anyway, the replacement was CEO Kingston’s decision."

"What? CEO Kingston?"

"Shh, I’ve only heard this..."

Ding, the elevator doors opened, and the two young women walked out.

Abby Sawyer stood inside the elevator, hearing that sentence—rumors saying Abby Sawyer was CEO Kingston’s woman, only to feel a chill in her heart.

Where did these rumors come from?

And this kind of talk is the most terrifying; once the public hears it, what kind of online storm would it cause?

Sure enough, as she stepped out of the elevator and headed towards the artist lounge, she felt the strange looks some people were giving her.

"Keira," Abby Sawyer said approaching Angel, "I’m back."

Angel glanced at her, thinking, where did this girl get such skills? She actually managed to drive away Violet Sutton and secure the third lead position?
