Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Naruto’s Promise

Orochimaru was angry. After Jiraiya, Tsunade, Naruto, Shizune, and Tobirama left, he almost destroyed the surroundings in his anger.

"I should’ve killed that brat then and there."

Orochimaru regretted why he didn’t kill Naruto in Forest of Death.

After his death, not only Akatasuki wouldn’t get their hands on Nine Tails but he could’ve also done it without releasing the Nine-Tails.

After all, he had already severed the connection between Nine-Tails and Naruto using the Five Elements Seal.

Of course, this would mean his plan wouldn’t proceed as expected, but that would’ve only made his situation better.

Not only would he not have lost his arms, but he would also have Sasuke in his hands.

Kabuto wouldn’t have betrayed him, nor would he be in this situation where he had to accept such an unfair trade with Naruto.

This was unacceptable. If it was Sasuke, he would’ve accepted this deal after all; he planned to make Sasuke his father.

(A/N- Just a joke)

He released a deep breath, calming his anger as he muttered.

"I really don’t have a choice, do I? I need those hands. Only then can I return to normal."

"No wonder there was no Reaper Death Seal in that book. It seems like Old Man only got his hands on that Jutsu after the Nine-Tails attack."

"Considering how confident Old Man was about sealing my hands forever, it seems only Minato knew the method to release it."

"But that brat is right. I can find the answer soon, but it wouldn’t matter."

If it was just about finding the solution for Reaper Death Seal, he had some confidence in himself.

But now that his arms were in Naruto’s hands, he had no choice but to get them back first.

He returned to his base and started preparing items for exchange.

Considering only Tobirama knew these things, Orochimaru knew he could make a lot of small changes to these details.

Of course, he made those changes in a way that they could get the right answers only after several trials.

After thinking about Naruto’s proposal, he understood Naruto wanted to use his research to cut down on research time.

But these changes would increase that research time. This was his short and sweet revenge against Naruto.

While Orochimaru was busy with his preparations, everyone else had returned to Konoha.

Tsunade was busy with her second grandfather while Jiraiya was immediately given another mission.

He took Shikaku, Gaara’s siblings, and went to Land of Rivers where they were planning on having a meeting with Sand Village.

Naruto didn’t attend this meeting since it was pretty useless, but he did promise Gaara to have a feast in Konoha once he became a Kazekage.

Gaara left with Jiraiya.

Naruto immediately appointed Shizune as his assistant, helping him with the work of a Hokage.

He did this for two reasons.

Shikamaru hadn’t grown up, and Shizune was also the Fifth Hokage’s assistant.

Shizune was quite surprised by this position. But being a Konoha ninja, she obliged.

On the other hand, Tsunade was pissed about this decision, but in front of the Second Hokage, she couldn’t do anything.

But she did ask Naruto if he could reincarnate Nawaki.

Naruto simply told her that if she wanted, he could resurrect Nawaki in the future, but that would still take some time.

He wanted her to overcome hemophobia and take the role of the Elder.

Overcoming hemophobia was a tough thing for Tsunade, especially without those memories.

But for her brother, she had no choice but to do it. She didn’t know where he got his confidence from, but she wanted to believe him.

She didn’t ask for Dan even though he was her lover. Sure, she still had some feelings for him, but more importantly, she just wanted her brother back.

So, Naruto didn’t give her any important tasks. He just asked her to focus on recovery.

"Lord Hokage, there is a mission that needs your authorization."

Shizune walked into the room, holding a scroll, and said.

"There is an A-Rank mission. It is a bodyguard mission to protect Yukie Fujikaze during her movie shoot in the Land of Snow."

Naruto’s eyes lit up when he heard about the mission. He hadn’t gone on that mission, but he knew about it.

It was a mission where he restored the Land of Snow to its rightful heir while also taking out a potential threat.

But thinking about his current position, Naruto said.

"Sister Shizune, call Team Guy for me! By the way, are they free?"

Shizune paused and said.

"Yes, they haven’t taken any missions recently, especially with most of the Jonin being mobilized all around the village."

"Guy should be busy."

Naruto nodded and said.

"Call them! As for Guy, inform him too!"

Shizune nodded and left the room.

Five minutes later, Team Guy arrived. It was Neji, Tenten, and Lee.

Because of his interference, Lee didn’t have to wait in the hospital.

But for the three of them, it was quite weird. After all, Naruto was their former teammate.

Seeing him, even from afar as a Hokage, felt unreal to them.

"Team Guy, I have a mission for you. It’s an A-Rank Mission."

Naruto spoke softly.

"Don’t worry, Naruto-kun! Team Guy will complete this mission splendidly."

Lee roared, getting excited for the mission.

"Lee, calm down! Sorry, Lord Hokage! Please, don’t mind his tone!"

Tenten quickly pulled him back. Although Naruto was their friend, he was also a Hokage now.

Naruto simply shook his head and said.

"Tenten, it’s okay for bushy-brows to call me Naruto. In fact, outside the official meetings, just address me as usual."

"Twelve of us are from the same generation."

Hearing his words, Tenten immediately understood that Naruto was binding Team Guy with his graduation team.

Considering how Naruto was using a nickname for Lee, she couldn’t help but rub the back of her head.

"It feels weird."

Neji spoke. He looked at Naruto with a strange gaze and said.

"Although you said you would become Hokage, I never thought you would become one so soon."
