Chapter 1517: Chapter 1517: Don’t Even Think About It
"Compared to the final result of complete paralysis, isn’t the process of slowly losing sensation in various parts of the body even more terrifying and frightening? Even the most determined people would break down because of this, especially someone like Matthew Saxon, a favored child of heaven, who has been destined for greatness since birth. Do you think he can withstand such a blow? He would rather die than become a worthless person who requires someone to feed him every bite."
"Maxwell Saxon, how can you do this, how can you do this!" Her body felt as if it had fallen into an ice cellar, with waves of cold piercing her, inch by inch, freezing her solid.
Scarlett Yates’s sight darkened, her body swayed, if she hadn’t caught the wall in time, she would have almost fallen to the ground.
Gold stars swirled before her eyes, and it was only after a good while that her vision slowly returned.
Her hands trembled violently, her whole body shook fiercely, as if standing in the icy and snowy wilderness, chilled to the bone.
"How can you be so vicious, you bastard."
"Scarlett, I know you must wish I would drop dead right now, but the fact is I’m doing just fine, and soon Matthew Saxon will become a paralyzed wreck."
"No matter how much you hate me, it won’t change anything. Just being angry is useless. If you want to save him, there’s a way. As long as you obediently come back and complete the wedding, I can detoxify him."
"With your inhumanity, it’s impossible for me to marry you. Don’t even dream about it."
"Oh, is that so? Then are you saying you’ll just watch Matthew become a wreck?" He chuckled softly, then sighed gently, almost as if persuading her, speaking tenderly, "Scarlett, there are many ways to love someone, even if you can’t be together, watching them safe and sound will give you comfort. If you truly like him, you should make some sacrifices for him."
"That’s bullshit." She cursed again.
"Why use foul language again? That’s a bad habit; you’ll need to change it. I don’t like hearing such vulgar words from you." He seemed slightly displeased in his tone.
"You won’t die a good death."
"While alive, one must do everything to live well, live freely, and have no time to worry about how to die later."
"You won’t die a good death." She repeated the phrase, cursing him through gritted teeth.
"I’ll give you time to think about it, and I’ll call again in two days."
"I won’t agree to your terms." She growled through clenched teeth.
Maxwell Saxon laughed and said, "You will agree because you have no choice. By the way, tell them not to keep meddling, it’s useless; if it were useful, Roy Saxon wouldn’t still be unconscious now. Only I can save them."
--
After hanging up the call, Scarlett Yates sat motionless on the bench in the corridor.
Occasionally, a few young nurses would pass by, and seeing her, they would stop to ask with concern if she was feeling unwell.
Her face looked terribly pale, unnaturally white, and she had a dazed expression, as if suffering from a significant shock.
Even Stella Nelson walked over to her without her noticing.
"Scarlett." Stella Nelson was startled when she saw her and knelt down, holding her shoulders and gently shaking them, "Are you alright? You look terrible."
