No matter if it was his tone of voice or the expression on his face, Thomas Fisher carried an undeniable sense of questioning and dissatisfaction, his gaze fixed unwaveringly on Autumn York, as if trying to discern something immediately.
"You went to register your marriage with her?"
Autumn York directly ignored Thomas Fisher’s questioning and his attitude of dissatisfaction with her, instead, she asked directly.
Thomas Fisher nodded and admitted without hiding anything, "We just got the marriage certificate."
If she hadn’t believed Sophia Wood saying they registered their marriage earlier, now Autumn York had no sense of wishful thinking because she understood her son; if he said they did, then they did.
"Did you use your father’s connections to get it?"
Without the household registration booklet, this was the only reason she could think of now.
"I got the marriage certificate on my own merit." Thomas Fisher didn’t specify the situation, only speaking vaguely. The specific details no longer had any significance; the focus was on the final outcome.
Autumn York, however, was different; she cared about the details and also the final result. "On your own merit, did you pay someone off?"
"Mom! You really underestimate your son. Your son now has more than just money; your son also has brains." Thomas Fisher felt greatly disappointed by his mother’s narrow view. In her eyes, he had always been someone useless.
Aside from relying on his father, the mayor, it was money. Is it really impossible to achieve anything aside from money and power?
Sophia Wood finally understood here; the two registered their marriage behind Autumn York’s back. His mother opposed it, yet they successfully registered.
She didn’t care anymore what happened before they registered. Now that they have the certificate, she felt reassured.
Alice Turner also realized at this moment; no wonder he didn’t bring the household registration booklet earlier. It turns out his mother had withheld it.
She always knew his mother was against their marriage, but now that they have the certificate, should she start addressing her as Mom?
"I don’t care how you got the marriage certificate. The point is, I do not agree to this marriage. You choose now if you choose her, then you are no longer my son. The company and family will have nothing to do with you."
Autumn York was truly furious, having spoken such severe words. Alice Turner swallowed the ’Mom’ that was about to come out of her mouth.
Thomas Fisher anticipated that Autumn York would be very angry after finding out about this, but he didn’t expect she would use the company to threaten him. The company had always been under his management.
If he stopped managing the company, what kind of situation would it face? He thought she understood better than he did, having once been a manager of the company herself.
His mom had gone mad!
"I made my choice a long time ago." Thomas Fisher reached out to hold Alice Turner’s hand tightly. He seemed to be expressing his resolve to her.
Upon hearing this, Autumn York’s pupils shrank sharply, her face became extremely grim, and her lips trembled with anger, "Fine, very well, just think of it as if I never gave birth to you."
After saying that, she gave a fierce glare at that ungrateful son, then turned and walked towards the door.
"Auntie! Please wait."
Alice Turner withdrew her hand from Thomas Fisher’s grasp and quickly caught up, reaching out to grab Autumn York’s arm, "Auntie! Thomas is your son. How can you pretend as if you never gave birth to him? It was indeed our fault for getting the certificate behind your back, and I apologize to you here."
