Back at the company, Jerry Garcia put the contract in the drawer and went to work.
He didn’t look at the name signed on the contract, nor did he check the name on the ID card.
Half an hour later, Justin Kingston walked into the office. He had his hands in his pockets and exuded a natural aura.
Jerry also happened to enter, and he quickly walked over with the contract, happily reporting, "CEO Kingston, the contract is signed."
"What contract?"
"Bibi, the one who likes cats, I went to see her today!" Jerry couldn’t wait to report, "She called me saying she couldn’t make it on Monday, she twisted her ankle and is in the orthopedic hospital."
"So, you went to the hospital?" It was the first time Justin saw him so dedicated, scrutinizing him closely.
"Yes!" Jerry said with an expression of pride, "I was afraid she’d run away, so I went to find her." He offered the contract with both hands, "Done!"
Justin wasn’t particularly pleased; out of the four cartoonists he wanted, only one was signed. As the CEO, he inevitably felt a bit defeated.
He reached for the document bag, and when he took out the contract, the girl’s ID card fell to the ground.
Justin lowered his eyes. Before he could bend over, Jerry quickly picked up the ID card, "I’ll get a copy made for her, and I’ll return the ID when I get a chance."
With one hand holding the contract, Justin took the ID card from Jerry with the other, intending to see how old the girl was.
But when he saw the name, something flickered in his brow, "Joanna Sawyer?"
Jerry also leaned over. It was his first time seeing the girl’s name, called Joanna Sawyer, and he couldn’t help but feel a little curious, "Do you know her?"
"Abby Sawyer, Joanna Sawyer...?" Justin murmured softly, lifting his gaze, suddenly as if grasping a thread of hope. Could she be Anton Ford’s first love’s sister?
Judging by age, this girl was only 20 years old, definitely not the same person as Abby Sawyer.
Although he hadn’t met her in person, from the ID photo, it was obvious she wasn’t Abby Sawyer.
But that name... it couldn’t be a coincidence.
Suddenly, Jerry realized something as well because he had been investigating Abby Sawyer’s whereabouts, "Could it really be such a coincidence?"
"Go check this girl’s household registration and see if she has an older sister," Justin immediately instructed him.
"Yes!" Jerry nodded and quickly turned to investigate.
Justin seemed to see a glimmer of hope again. It was like looking for something all over the place and finding it without effort.
He personally made two copies of the ID card as it was needed for the company’s records.
Sitting in the office chair, he quietly gazed at the girl in the ID photo, connecting her to the image of Abby Sawyer in his mind.
Soon, Jerry came back, and Justin looked up, "Did you find out?"
Jerry was efficient, he approached the desk and reported regretfully, "CEO Kingston, Joanna Sawyer only has her parents and herself, she’s an only child."
The little hope Justin harbored was thus shattered, but he quickly regained his composure.
Could it really be such a coincidence in this world?
"What about Abby Sawyer? Have you found her whereabouts?" Justin handed over the girl’s ID card and looked up to ask.
Jerry gingerly accepted it with both hands, somewhat uneasy as he replied, "We have been investigating tirelessly, but haven’t found her yet."
"Let me know the moment you find out anything." With that, Justin turned back, intending to start a meeting on his computer.
"Yes." Jerry was also feeling anxious internally.
Morning.
Trevor sat in the meeting room of The Dalton Group, in the leader’s position, listening to the reports of various board members, occasionally giving his own suggestions.
He always hit the nail on the head, and everyone agreed, quickly jotting down notes.
Janelle was at the piano training school. As a princess, she did not violate the contract’s terms and continued to teach the children how to play piano with dedication.
