Chapter 1990: Chapter 1992: Taken Away
After the first examination, there was a two-day interval before the second one.
During these two days, they stayed at the inn the whole time. Wang Kui was sent out to check other inns for available spots, but unfortunately, all other inns were still fully booked, so they had to put up with staying at this inn for a few more days.
The second examination went fairly smoothly, and in no time, it was the third examination, which was the last.
As always, it was held at the gates of the Imperial Academy.
Xiaoxiao anxiously checked the items Yang Ming had brought with him, "Alright, everything is still here, no problem. You should head inside now. Good luck, husband."
As she said this, Xiaoxiao made a fist bump gesture towards Yang Ming.
Yang Ming replied that she shouldn’t worry and he carried his things inside.
Before entering, the same series of checks was conducted.
Xiaoxiao watched Yang Ming enter with her own eyes, then felt relieved and took Yang Qiu and Wang Kui to wait at a teahouse at the alley’s entrance.
...
...
Inside the examination hall
This was already the third examination, and Yang Ming was quite experienced, feeling relaxed and at ease.
All the examinees were seated and waiting, and Yang Ming was among them.
He scanned the room and locked eyes with a young man named Liu sitting beside him.
Young Master Liu gave a slight snort upon catching Yang Ming’s gaze and turned his head away.
Yang Ming was no longer surprised by Young Master Liu’s attitude and didn’t mind it at all.
Finally, the proctors entered the room, and the exam papers were distributed.
Yang Ming opened the exam paper, quickly read through it, and his lips curled up slightly. He felt confident about this exam, and believed he could take the next exam next year.
He picked up the pen beside him, dipped it in ink, and quickly began writing on the exam paper.
This action was noticed by Young Master Liu next to him. He involuntarily clenched his hand that hung by his side. He had just finished reading the exam paper and hadn’t decided how to respond yet while Yang Ming was already writing furiously. At this rate, wouldn’t Yang Ming pass the exam?
Feeling some urgency but helpless, he could only hope that Yang Ming’s little actions would be caught soon.
As for this exam paper, he still had only a vague understanding and pondered for a full cup of tea before starting to write.
Just after he began writing, someone entered from outside and whispered something to the chief examiner.
Then he saw two proctors heading in their direction.
His lips immediately curved upwards. He thought, here they come, finally.
At this moment, Yang Ming was still writing swiftly, but noticed the proctors walking his way, so he stopped writing and looked up.
Just as he looked up, the proctors had already reached him.
One of the proctors scrutinized his exam paper, then asked, "Are you Yang Ming?"
Yang Ming immediately stood up and replied, "Yes, Proctor, I am Yang Ming."
The proctor nodded and said, "Someone has reported that you brought things that shouldn’t be allowed into this examination hall, please come with us."
Yang Ming hadn’t expected this kind of issue during the exam, but knowing it was inevitable, he had no choice but to follow the proctor.
As he left, he glanced beside him and saw Young Master Liu wearing a gloating expression. Yang Ming had a good idea who was behind this, as it was likely no one else but him with whom he had enmity.
Yang Ming was thus taken away, leaving the other examinees in the room very surprised.
"What are you all looking at? Hurry up and answer the questions."
The proctor shouted angrily, and everyone obediently bowed their heads to continue answering.
