Carson Flores turned his head to glance at Dorian Roth, his eyes narrowing slightly!
Praise with ulterior motives?
First, set me up with words, then use the excuse of the Demon Summoning Banner’s extraordinary power to take the next step against me?
Or perhaps, send the Third Squad to the most dangerous spot, or use righteousness as a reason to ask me to lend the Demon Summoning Banner?
Before Carson Flores revealed the Demon Summoning Banner, he had already contemplated various scenarios and was mentally prepared.
Carson Flores ignored Dorian Roth, stopped in front of Nerys Roth, and saluted, “Captain, mission accomplished.”
Theron Coffey’s face showed an approving smile, “Well done, this battle has struck a blow to the Demon Race’s arrogance. How about the team losses?”
Carson Flores casually replied, “Luckily, no one died, but the desperate counterattack was fierce. Quite a few disciples were injured. Preliminary estimates are about three hundred people, but fortunately, the injuries aren’t too severe. With a period of rest, they’ll return to the battlefield.”
Injured three hundred people?
Theron Coffey was stunned. You all swept through with unstoppable force, chasing down the enemy, and still got so many injured?
Impossible, right?
Theron Coffey internally doubted Carson Flores’ report, but as a captain, he couldn’t question it openly.
They just came back from a bloody battle and are reporting casualties to you, and you say it’s impossible, accusing them of fabricating—it doesn’t make sense, does it?
Valdrin Gross glanced at Theron Coffey, chiming in, “Really? It seemed you always had the upper hand. How could there be so many injuries?”
Carson Flores spread his hands, “The Demon Race is brutal. Isn’t it normal to get injured? It’s fortunate enough everyone kept their lives. Captain Gross, are you questioning my words?”
Right, you are saying falsehoods!
Valdrin Gross internally grumbled but didn’t dare voice it. He chuckled nervously, “No, battling the Demon Race is no easy feat, especially when they were shattered by the Great Demon you summoned, fleeing for their lives, striking fiercely. It’s normal if our people got injured intercepting them…”
“Indeed, when cornered even a dog will jump over a wall, let alone the ferocious Demon Race. Over thirty demons, each comparable to a Great Land Prime Immortal, trying to escape—it’s not that easy to stop them.”
Carson Flores casually responded, then turned to Theron Coffey, “Captain, my injured team members need treatment. According to regulations, teams rotating in combat can return to the rear camp for rest after the battle, awaiting the next fight. I request to take the Third Squad back to the rear camp for replenishment, so we can join battles again soon.”
Theron Coffey hesitated, “They don’t seem too badly injured. How about resting and recovering here, and I’ll get the physician to treat everyone, okay?”
Carson Flores declined without hesitation, “The frontline situation is tense, and everyone’s mentally strained all the time. How can you recuperate peacefully? Besides, the battles are still small-scale, not requiring everyone’s presence. Many others are waiting for their turn to shine. We are of no use here. It’s better to return to the camp for rest like other squads…”
Upon hearing this, Theron Coffey could find no reason to refuse.
Carson Flores’ words were polite, but the meaning was clear: keeping us here is pointless. Even if there’s a fight next, it should be another squad, not my Third Squad!
Other units return for rest after the fight, yet you want me to keep my three hundred injured here? That’s against the rules!
Theron Coffey’s heart was filled with frustration. He originally dispatched Carson Flores to eliminate him or make the Third Squad face a severe defeat for accountability, but unexpectedly Carson Flores stood out, astonishing the entire army!
The Army Commander probably noticed Carson Flores too. If he violated the rules by forcing Carson Flores to stay, Carson Flores could elevate the complaint directly to the Army Commander. Without a reasonable justification, the one in trouble would be him.
The Army Commander doesn’t tolerate any nonsense!
Though highly suspicious that the claim of three hundred injured is false, even if they appear unscathed on the outside, yet claim internal injuries—would you really send a physician to check?
Even if you send a physician, what if they claim they have internal injuries and simply feel unwell for no apparent reason and you find nothing—wouldn’t that suggest you’re just incompetent?
“Fine, this battle has been tough for you. The Third Squad can return to camp for rest and await orders. Additionally, gather your battle achievements and report them up. This victory will surely bring generous rewards.”
Carson Flores smiled, “Thank you, Captain. Once organized, I’ll have Carradine deliver it.”
Carradine, responsible for military law and battle achievements statistics, is also the vice-captain. Her reporting to Theron Coffey is appropriate and compliant.
Theron Coffey felt increasingly constrained, filled with irritability, but with many small team leaders watching him, he could only answer with a cheerful face, “Alright!”
Carson Flores took a step back, saluted, “Then I’ll now take the Third Squad back to the barracks!”
“Wait a moment!”
Theron Coffey called out to Carson Flores, asking in front of everyone, “Can you leave the banner that summons the Great Demon?”
