Chapter 458: Chapter 457: The Second Lottery Ticket

Water Dragon Roar traced a perfect arc through the air, clashing with the rabbit’s claws and letting out a piercing shriek of scraping metal.

The rabbit’s Strength was much weaker than before. Seraphina Sinclair easily parried its attack, reversed her blade, and was just about to stab down when the rabbit shrank again and leaped out the window.

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

She frowned, staring at the window for a good while, but the rabbit didn’t return.

But if Seraphina Sinclair’s guess was right, there was something even more terrifying lurking outside, waiting for the rabbit. It wouldn’t just run away.

So if it hadn’t fled, and it hadn’t come back into the cabin...

’...then where could it be?’

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow and turned to look at the Gloom Hatchling, which was sleeping soundly beside her.

The Temporary Contract Certificate dissolved into motes of light within her Silver Moon Earrings. The Gloom Hatchling’s eyes snapped open, its damp gaze still hazy with sleep, but its body had already sprung up instinctively. Its little claws scrambled against the floor as it looked around.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t give it time to react. She pointed a hand toward the window. "Go check it out."

The Gloom Hatchling followed her finger and saw the window with the large hole in it. It then looked back at Seraphina Sinclair’s expressionless face, its eyes screaming, ’Are you serious?’

Seraphina Sinclair said nothing, merely watched it.

The Gloom Hatchling was silent for a moment, then let out a sigh, mimicking Seraphina Sinclair. It finally trotted over to the window on its short legs and poked its head out to take a look.

Everything seemed normal. The Gloom Hatchling was about to pull its head back in when it seemed to sense something. It suddenly twisted its head and looked up toward the roof of the mobile cabin.

With just one glance, it froze. Seraphina Sinclair saw the very tip of its tail go rigid.

’So the rabbit really is out there, hiding on the roof!’

The environment outside was a disadvantage for Seraphina Sinclair. Rushing out to fight would be no different from suicide. But the Gloom Hatchling was different. It had wings! It could fly!

Getting on the roof was nothing, and even aerial combat was a trivial matter for a creature like a Gloomdrake.

Seraphina Sinclair sneered and issued a new order: "Kill it."

’This rabbit is very cunning. It values its life and knows when to run, which means it will definitely try a sneak attack.’

’You can be a thief for a thousand days, but you can’t guard against one for a thousand days.’

Monsters would enter whenever Seraphina Sinclair moved, and she had no desire to be fighting one only to have a rabbit suddenly leap out of nowhere and ambush her.

Hearing the command, the Gloom Hatchling glanced back at Seraphina Sinclair, its eyes clearly saying, "Watch me!"

It turned its head back, instantly spread its wings, and leaped out of the window.

Seraphina Sinclair walked to the window and watched the Gloom Hatchling’s figure vanish into the black fog. The next second, a loud crash came from the roof, as if something had been knocked over.

This was followed by the rabbit’s shriek—sharp and piercing—and then the sounds of a fight.

The Gloom Hatchling’s roar, the rabbit’s screams, and the sound of something rolling around on the roof.

Seraphina Sinclair stood by the window, arms crossed, listening with a blank expression.

After about two minutes, the sounds stopped.

A dark shape fell from the roof, hitting the ground with a heavy thud. It was the rabbit, covered in blood and completely still.

Immediately after, the Gloom Hatchling flew down from the black fog and landed beside the rabbit. It nudged the corpse with its claw, confirming it was dead, then tilted its head back and cried out to Seraphina Sinclair in the window.

Its cry was filled with pride: ’Done.’

The corners of Seraphina Sinclair’s mouth lifted slightly.

"Good work," she said.

The Gloom Hatchling’s eyes lit up instantly. Its tail wagged like a pinwheel as it snatched up the rabbit’s corpse and flew back. The moment the body was dragged through the window, it began to dissolve into motes of light.

A notification popped up in front of Seraphina Sinclair: [Killed B-level BOSS Ghostly Disguise Rabbit x1!]

[You have killed the B-level BOSS for this path choice! Obtained Leader’s Supply Box x1]

Seraphina Sinclair stared at the notification, stunned for a second.

’A B-level BOSS?’

’The BOSS for the path choice?’

She blinked, read it again to make sure she wasn’t mistaken. ’That rabbit—the one that ran around, fled when it was losing, came back after running away, and was ultimately slapped to death by the Gloom Hatchling—was actually a BOSS?’

For a moment, Seraphina Sinclair was at a loss for words. She looked down at the Gloom Hatchling.

The Gloom Hatchling was crouched next to the "Leader’s Supply Box," pawing at its edge and curiously examining the item, which looked different from a regular Supply Box.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t rush to open the box. Instead, she first replayed the recent battle in her mind.

’Wasn’t this BOSS a bit... too weak?’

She thought back to the other BOSS-level monsters she had encountered. Hadn’t every single one of them required a herculean effort to take down?

But this rabbit... its will to fight was as flimsy as an actor’s. It ran when it couldn’t win, then came back only to get itself killed. It was so ridiculous you had to wonder if it was just here for comic relief.

’But either way, as long as the rewards aren’t nerfed, it’s fine.’

Seraphina Sinclair opened the Supply Box: [Congratulations! You have obtained: Legendary Equipment Lottery Ticket x0.5!]

She rummaged through her Silver Moon Earrings for a while before finally finding the other 0.5 ticket she had obtained earlier.

The exciting moment had finally arrived!

Seraphina Sinclair placed the two Legendary Equipment Lottery Ticket halves together. The instant they touched, they automatically merged into one with a soft chime.

The sound wasn’t loud, but it had an inexplicable solemnity, as if announcing that something incredible was about to happen.

Seraphina Sinclair stared at the complete lottery ticket in her palm. The previously blurry markings on it had now sharpened, outlining a complex pattern that vaguely resembled the shape of a sword.

She took a deep breath, her fingers tightening slightly.

The commotion finally woke the sleeping Artemis. She yawned, looking at the lottery ticket in Seraphina Sinclair’s hand. The more she looked, the more familiar it seemed.

She scratched her head. "Why does that look so much like my half of the lottery ticket?"

Seraphina Sinclair froze. "You have half a lottery ticket?"

"Shouldn’t I?" Luna Jacobs spread her hands. "I may not be on your level, Master Blacktiger, but I’m Master Artemis, you know."

’Fair enough.’

Seraphina Sinclair carefully recalled the supplies she had received from Luna Jacobs. She was absolutely certain that there was no such thing as a lottery ticket among them.

’Strange.’

’Didn’t the arena certificate say you get all of a survivor’s items? Why does that rule suddenly not apply to a Legendary Equipment Lottery Ticket?’

’Could the system’s Description be wrong?’

Seraphina Sinclair pondered for a long time but couldn’t figure it out. Her gaze fell back to the lottery ticket in her hand. Without hesitation, she chose to use it.

[Drawing Legendary Equipment...]

The moment the ticket shattered, Seraphina Sinclair felt the entire cabin tremble.

The lottery ticket dissolved into motes of shimmering fragments, coalescing above Seraphina Sinclair’s palm into a fist-sized ball of light. Arcs of electricity continuously flashed across its surface, and with each arc, the phantom image of a piece of equipment would appear.
