Beiming Cang Xue had received a portion of the Immortal Mansion owner’s lingering thoughts from the Bosu Meditation Mat, so her information was unlikely to be wrong.
“So be it. Not everything can go my way!”
Fang Cheng sighed and gave up on the Divine Lamp.
That Venerable Jiayin was a Spirit Immortal Incarnation with a penchant for treachery. If she were to escape, he wouldn’t be afraid, but it would undoubtedly cause a lot of trouble. There were still many unexplored places in this Immortal Mansion. Forcibly refining the ancient lamp simply wasn’t worth the risk.
Just then, the young nun within the lamp’s flame seemed to sense Fang Cheng’s decision. She opened her beautiful eyes and gazed at him faintly, the corners of her lips curling into an enigmatic smile.
Fang Cheng ignored her and turned his attention to the twelve-panel Golden Screen behind the square platform.
Beiming Cang Xue followed obediently by his side, her demeanor demure and trusting.
The two looked at the screen and saw nine Golden Crow Divine Birds depicted upon it. They shone with a brilliant, flickering golden light that seemed to radiate a palpable wave of heat.
Beiming Cang Xue explained, “Within this screen are the inheritances for nine Sixth-rank Talismans. You just need to enter and refine the nine Golden Crows to receive the legacy left by the Immortal Mansion’s owner.”
Fang Cheng nodded. He released a wisp of Magical Power, and upon touching the Golden Screen, his entire body was drawn inside.
A sky-spanning inferno of golden flames roared to life. Nine colossal Golden Crows, each thousands of feet tall, danced and wheeled through the air like nine suns blazing across the firmament.
Fang Cheng activated his newly acquired Tier Six Flying Sword, the Boundless. An ethereal beam of sword light shot toward the heavens, its path unpredictable as it streaked toward the nine Golden Crows.
Beiming Cang Xue stood before the screen, watching as he slew and refined the Golden Crows one by one. Her heart was a swirling tide of emotions.
‘To enter into Dual Cultivation with a man like him… it might not be so bad after all…’
A short while later, the screen flashed, and Fang Cheng stepped out.
He was in high spirits. After refining the nine Golden Crows, he had obtained the inheritance for nine Great Sun Golden Crow Talismans. The power of these talismans could be stacked or combined to form a Great Sun Golden Crow Talisman Formation. It was a formation capable of incinerating anything and even refining heaven and earth itself—its might was truly incredible.
What excited him even more was the power of his Tier Six Flying Sword, the Boundless. Its might had far exceeded his expectations.
With this sword in hand, he felt an overwhelming urge to test its edge as soon as possible, whether against the masters of the Beiming Immortal Race before the Taixu Gate or against the Demon Lord of the Red Profound Realm.
The Golden Screen was not a Magical Artifact, but merely a Spiritual Object once used by a powerful Spirit Immortal. Acting on the principle of not letting anything go to waste, Fang Cheng stored it away, planning to sell it at the Celestial Ruins Marketplace once he left this place.
Beiming Cang Xue said, “The precious material needed to craft the Great Sun Golden Crow Talismans are the leaves of the Great Sun Celestial Fire Tree. There’s one such tree right here in the Immortal Mansion. It’s one of the three great Sixth-rank Celestial and Earthly Spiritual Objects within this place, along with the Seven-Colored Treasure Lotus and the Immortal Peaches. Let’s go take a look.”
Fang Cheng asked curiously, “Are there any other treasures in this Immortal Mansion?”
Beiming Cang Xue shook her head. “The Spirit Immortal’s lingering thoughts only mentioned these rare treasures, which were left as gifts for a fated successor. There was no mention of anything else.”
Fang Cheng said, “Complete Sixth-rank Magical Artifacts rarely ever appear in the Lingkong Celestial Ruins. For us to have obtained two is already a stroke of incredible fortune. We should be content.”
The pair passed through the Immortal Hall and ventured into the depths of the Immortal Mansion. There, just as she had said, they saw a Divine Tree erupting from the ground, bathed in celestial fire.
The Great Sun Celestial Fire Tree!
The tree looked as if it were hung with countless blazing suns, so bright they were blinding. An astonishing heat radiated outwards, and the very air around it shimmered with raging flames, making it difficult to even look at.
By the time they were a hundred yards from the tree, Beiming Cang Xue could go no further. Though she was protected by the gray feather, her blue, phoenix-patterned dress disintegrated into ash under the intense heat.
Her slender, snow-white body was laid bare before Fang Cheng’s eyes.
Mortified, the young woman quickly used the gray feather to cover herself. She stood rooted to the spot in embarrassment, her delicate, jade-like feet curling in on themselves.
Any closer, and even with the feather’s protection, her physical body wouldn’t be able to bear the heat.
Fang Cheng had her retreat while he advanced alone, shielded by the Tier Six Ancient Bell.
When he reached fifty yards from the Great Sun Celestial Fire Tree, his Magical Robe also burst into flames and turned to ash. His tall Profound Gold Spiritual Mechanism Body, now bathed in celestial fire, took on an almost divine quality.
Thirty yards, twenty yards…
By the time he was ten yards from the Great Sun Celestial Fire Tree, the surface of Fang Cheng’s Spiritual Mechanism Incarnation was glowing red-hot. He had reached his limit.
He looked up at the colossal, sky-scraping tree, feeling as insignificant as an ant at its base.
He summoned the Boundless Flying Sword. A beam of sword light pierced through the raging inferno and struck fiercely at the stalk of a single leaf.
BOOM!
A brilliant burst of fire erupted from the tree. A single, enormous leaf from the Celestial Fire Tree drifted down. Its veins resembled patterns of fire, and the entire leaf looked as if it were made of Red Gold, yet it pulsed with astonishing vitality.
Fang Cheng immediately channeled his Magical Power into the giant leaf. Only after slowly refining it did he finally store it away.
He then struck again and again, cutting down nineteen more leaves in one go before finally retreating to slowly recover his energy.
Crafting a single Great Sun Golden Crow Talisman required eighty-one leaves from the Celestial Fire Tree. To make all nine, he would need seven hundred and twenty-nine!
For a mighty Spirit Immortal, this might not be a difficult task. For Fang Cheng, however, it was a goal he could only work toward gradually.
The Great Sun Celestial Fire Tree felt like a vast World Heaven filled with Great Sun True Fire—immense and powerful. For him to confront it alone was like an ant trying to shake a tree.
Fortunately, his strength had increased dramatically after refining the Spirit Immortal Head. Each time he depleted his Magical Power, he could make a full recovery after meditating for half a day, allowing him to continue harvesting the giant leaves.
