Chapter 833: 833: Different World
He wasn’t shocked that Ethan belonged to a different world. Rather, it was the fact that the place was entirely filled with mortals.
A world where no one could cultivate, where people had no spiritual energy and had to rely on their own means to survive. It was something he had never imagined before.
Ethan then began talking about Earth. He described its vast cities, towering buildings and busy streets filled with people. He told Gu Cheng about the countless vehicles moving along roads, the bright lights that illuminated cities at night and the modern technology that had become part of everyday life.
He also talked about the food, the different cuisines and the countless ways people prepared their meals. From simple street food to elaborate dishes served in restaurants, Earth had a variety of delicacies that even cultivators might find interesting.
He described the customs of ordinary people, their festivals, entertainment and the way they lived their lives without relying on cultivation. Even though Earth had no spiritual energy, humans had developed their own ways of making life easier.
Although Earth had no magic or cultivation, the technology they had invented could give magic and cultivation a tough competition. Their machines, communication systems and countless inventions had changed the way people lived.
As Ethan spoke, memories of Earth slowly surfaced in his mind. The familiar streets, the sounds of busy cities and the simple pleasures of daily life brought a faint sense of nostalgia.
Gu Cheng sat with his eyes closed while imagining the mortal world. Ethan’s brief description was enough to drag him into a subtle imagination of this new world.
Sure enough, it looked quite dashing.
A world without cultivation, yet filled with so many strange inventions and customs. The thought alone made Gu Cheng curious.
He, too, wanted to take a look at it.
After a while, Gu Cheng opened his eyes and looked at Ethan.
"Daoist Ethan, you should drink this in one go to be helpful. It will raise your cultivation."
"Good!" Ethan muttered.
He lifted the cup and chugged down the entire wine.
A burst of warmth exploded inside his body. The energy spread through his meridians, and Ethan felt his entire body heat up as the wine’s power surged through him.
He immediately got up and bellowed with a mighty roar before stepping outside.
Taking out his sword, he executed a series of sword moves and started training around the open area. His movements grew faster as the energy inside his body surged, and each swing of his sword carried a stronger force than before.
Gu Cheng watched him for a moment before smiling faintly. He then pulled out his own sword and stepped forward.
The two engaged in a sword fight, exchanging their inner will through the battle of swords. Their blades met again and again as they tested each other’s movements, and the sound of clashing metal echoed through the quiet surroundings of Frostvele.
CLANG!
The two swords met, sending a faint ripple through the surrounding air. Ethan stepped back and adjusted his grip while Gu Cheng’s sword moved like flowing water, striking from an angle that seemed impossible to predict.
Ethan narrowed his eyes and swung his sword upward, forcing Gu Cheng to redirect his blade. Their swords clashed several times as neither gave the other an opening. The energy within Ethan’s body continued to circulate, and each movement felt more natural than before.
Gu Cheng’s expression grew serious. He had initially intended to guide Ethan through a few sword exchanges, but the more they fought, the more he realized that Ethan’s swordsmanship was far from ordinary.
Although Ethan lacked the refined techniques of a cultivator, his instincts and understanding of battle were exceptional. His sword carried a fierce will that refused to yield, and his movements were direct and powerful.
BOOM!
Their swords collided once again, and both were forced to retreat. Ethan slid several meters across the ground before stabilizing himself. Gu Cheng also took a few steps back, his robes fluttering in the wind.
"Fellow Daoist Ethan, your swordsmanship is truly impressive," Gu Cheng said with a faint smile.
Ethan rolled his shoulders and looked at him.
"You’re not bad yourself. I can barely keep up with your movements."
Gu Cheng chuckled and raised his sword again.
"Then let us continue."
Ethan grinned and rushed forward.
The two figures moved across the open ground as their swords continued to clash. Ethan’s attacks were fierce and straightforward, while Gu Cheng’s sword moved with a strange rhythm that made it difficult to predict his next strike.
Their sword intent spread through the surroundings, stirring the grass and sending loose stones rolling across the ground. Neither of them held back too much, but both remained careful not to cause unnecessary destruction.
After several exchanges, Ethan suddenly felt the energy within his body settle down. The warmth that had spread through his meridians gradually faded, leaving behind a refreshing sensation.
He swung his sword one last time before stepping back.
"Let’s stop here for today."
Gu Cheng lowered his sword and nodded.
"Very well."
Ethan sheathed his sword and stretched his arms. Although the battle had been brief, he could feel the benefits of the wine coursing through his body. His energy circulation had become smoother, and even his understanding of swordsmanship seemed to have improved slightly.
He looked at Gu Cheng with a curious expression.
"That wine of yours is really something. Do you have more?"
Gu Cheng smiled and shook his head.
"Not much. It takes a long time to brew, and the materials are not easy to find. I had only brought a small amount with me."
Ethan clicked his tongue in disappointment.
"That’s a shame."
Gu Cheng glanced at him and smiled faintly.
"If Fellow Daoist Ethan wishes to drink it again, perhaps we can find suitable materials and brew some together."
Ethan’s eyes lit up.
"Now that’s a good idea."
