Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Jiang Yun’s Secret Daughter

"Han Yuxi," Jiang Yun repeated. "So that’s her name."

"I gave her that name as I didn’t want others to ask about her father," Han Xiyue explained. "Despite this, our daughter sometimes asks who her father is."

"So, why have you explained all this to me?" Jiang Yun asked, still confused. "Is there a reason you wanted to tell me rather than keep it a secret? Is our daughter in trouble and you need help?"

"Currently she should be doing fine," Han Xiyue assured. "She decided to go to a sect held competition to test her strength and went ahead of me. Though I am not part of a sect, this competition is for anyone below the Heaven Immortal realm to compete."

"How confident is Han Yuxi in this competition? Will she be fine going by herself?"

"Don’t worry, she is already over a hundred years old and no longer a child. Not to mention she is at the late stage of the Earth Immortal realm and can hold her own."

"She’s at the late stage of Earth Immortal in around a hundred years? That means she is quite talented."

"What do you expect? She is the daughter of two Immortal Emperors after all."

Han Xiyue suddenly noticed something after saying this. She stopped speaking and looked closely at Jiang Yun. After looking for a while, Han Xiyue became very confused after observing Jiang Yun.

"Why can’t I see your realm?" Han Xiyue asked in confusion. "When I last saw you a little over a hundred years ago, you were still at the late stage of Immortal Emperor. I have also reached late stage Immortal Emperor now, so even if you reached peak Immortal Emperor, I can tell. So, why can’t I see anything"

"I have stepped much further than just an Immortal Emperor," Jiang Yun explained. "With my current power, I can kill hundreds of Immortal Emperors at once, so it makes sense you aren’t strong enough to see my realm."

"Then have you reached the legendary Dao realm?"

"You can say that, but I have reached further than even that. Nothing in the Immortal realm is worth my attention anymore."

"You’re that strong?" Han Xiyue asked in disbelief.

"Do you need proof?"

"No need. I know you won’t lie about something like this. If that’s the case, then there’s no need for me to hide your identity anymore."

"Why do you need to hide my identity? Have you encountered any trouble?"

"I wouldn’t say much trouble, as nobody has acted impulsively just yet, but revealing your identity might cause problems."

"Why might that be?"

"I am quite popular among male cultivators, and so is our daughter. We have many suitors that are very powerful, either being Immortal Emperors or having the backing of one. Due to this, I can’t outright reject them and can only string them along all this time."

"Have you always been this popular?"

"Not always. Just after I gave birth and changed to what I look like now."

"So, what does this have to do with not revealing my identity?"

"If I revealed your identity, then you would be hunted down by several Immortal Emperors, and some of them might even take action and kidnap both me and our daughter to prevent us from stopping it."

"I see, so you have been through this much since I was gone. Then how does our daughter feel about me? Does she hate me for never being there for her?"

Jiang Yun was an orphan himself before finding his mother again, so he understood the feeling of not having a parent. Though Han Xiyue was there for her, Jiang Yun himself wasn’t.

"She doesn’t particularly hate you or like you," Han Xiyue explained. "After she became an adult, she stopped caring and just accepted not having a father. She hasn’t asked about you in a long time."

"If I’m not needed, then why have you come looking for me? You still haven’t explained your reason."

"I originally came to see your reaction about having a child. I at least wanted our daughter to meet her father at least once in her life, but now that I know you are strong enough, my plans can change if you agree to it."

"What plans have you thought of?"

"I want you to come with me openly to go see our daughter. Since I no longer need to worry about your safety, there’s no need to hide that you are the father of Han Yuxi."

"Your plan is for me to meet our daughter? If so, then I am fine with it, but you have ulterior motives too, don’t you?"

"Of course," Han Xiyue replied smugly. "I would have explained anyway, but with you being so strong, I can chase away those men who keep looking at me without me being able to do anything about it."

"That’s easy to solve," Jiang Yun stated, expecting as much. "Anyone who dares cause us trouble will never see tomorrow ever again."

"So, you agree to my plan?"

"I agree. Not to mention, I also want to confirm that she is my daughter and what she looks like. Though I don’t think you would lie, I still want to confirm."

"If you want to confirm, then go ahead. I can’t prove it here anyway, so you will just have to see for yourself."

"That’s what I planned to do anyway, even if you hadn't said anything. Still, where exactly are we going, since you still haven’t told me where this competition is?"

"It’s held in the middle of the four major sects. It was placed there so that the major sects can easily compete with each other and improve their skills. The current tournament is held every ten years jointly by the sects and offers generous rewards."

"I know where you are talking about, but I don’t remember anything about this competition. Back when I was still an Immortal Emperor, it didn’t exist, so is this a recent competition?"

"You are correct, this tradition has been going on for the past eighty years. It started when a rogue cultivator managed to win a battle against a core disciple of one of the four major sects and earned the recognition of all four major sects."

"How does that make sense? Wouldn’t that talent be killed for ruining the reputation of the sect whose core disciple he beat?"

"Usually it would be like this, but the sect leader of the core disciple liked the rogue cultivator very much and recruited the man instead. A hundred years ago, the man emerged and was at the Immortal Emperor realm. This caused all the other sects to become jealous, as Immortal Emperors are hard to recruit."

"So how does this lead to the competition?"

"This led to the competition as the major sects started trying to find talents of their own, but to no avail. This led them to develop a method, which was a competition to filter out talent. If anyone can manage to defeat a core disciple, they will be heavily rewarded and offered to join a sect."

"I see, so this competition is just to recruit talented disciples among the masses. Then why does our daughter want to compete? It can’t be just to prove her strength."

"Our daughter indeed wants to prove her strength, but at the same time, the cultivation resources the sects offer are very generous, and she wanted to get some of them herself. Now at her age, she wants to be more self-reliant rather than me directly giving her cultivation resources."

"She has grown up to be independent, which isn’t a bad trait to have."

"I know, but I still can’t help but worry about her somewhat, and I was rushing to meet up with her before I saw you. She may not be in any real danger at the moment, but I still wanted to be there for her."

"Shall we go and meet up with her then? I want to see her as soon as possible."

"Then let’s hurry. I’m worried about how she is doing now."

"Alright, then let’s go."

Jiang Yun grabbed Han Xiyue by the shoulder and disappeared towards where the competition was being held.

Soon after, the two arrived in front of a bustling area which was heavily crowded with people. The place was filled with vendors selling all kinds of goods, ranging from cultivation resources to Immortal treasures.

"We’re already here?" Han Xiyue asked in surprise, still looking at her surroundings. "We should have been very far away, and it should have taken at least a day for a typical Immortal Emperor to reach here."

"Did you forget that I’m not an Immortal Emperor?" Jiang Yun replied with some pride. "It takes no effort for me to reach here instantly."

"So, you were telling the truth. Then I truly have nothing to worry about."

"Let’s go find our daughter since you understand."

"I’ll lead the way then."

Han Xiyue moved forward without another word, with Jiang Yun following close behind, expectantly wanting to meet his so-called daughter.
