The two passed through the crowd of people to look for Han Yuxi.
While traveling through, Jiang Yun saw just how popular the four major sects' competition was. The place was so crowded it was hard to move through and follow Han Xiyue.
Still, Jiang Yun managed to keep track of Han Xiyue in the crowd. Every once in a while, Han Xiyue would make strange turns and almost disappear, but Jiang Yun still managed to find her again.
As Jiang Yun continued to follow along, they soon made it past the bulk of the crowd and entered a clearing with significantly fewer people.
Looking around, Jiang Yun soon saw a large stadium, which should be for the competition.
Around the stadium, some Immortals were finding lodging, while others headed toward the crowd where the merchants were. That didn’t matter though, as Han Xiyue continued leading the way.
Jiang Yun followed close behind as she made her way toward one of the inns that other Immortals were also entering. The inn was decent-looking, but not particularly large.
Even when the two went inside, the place still looked incredibly normal, with no notable qualities.
Han Xiyue then went to the counter of the inn and waited for an attendant to come. It didn’t take long before someone arrived. A young woman with short, shoulder-length black hair who looked to be a young adult arrived to greet Han Xiyue.
"Are you here for lodging?" the girl asked.
"We are here to meet up with my daughter," Han Xiyue replied. "She should look similar to me and should have gotten a room for two."
"Hmm," the girl began thinking. "I think I remember someone like that. I’ll take you to her, though I’m not sure if it is indeed the person you are looking for."
"That’s fine."
"Then follow me."
The girl left the counter and started going up the stairs to the upper floors of the inn. Han Xiyue and Jiang Yun followed close behind, hoping it was indeed Han Yuxi.
After arriving on the second floor, the girl stopped at the second-to-last room and knocked on the door. The three waited a while before sounds could be heard from the other side.
The door then opened, and standing in front of the three of them was a girl who looked like a younger version of Han Xiyue. The main difference was that she had her hair tied to the side rather than in a braid, and she was shorter.
"Is this the correct person?" the inn attendant asked.
"Yes, she is indeed my daughter," Han Xiyue assured her.
"Then I’ll get going," the inn attendant replied before walking away.
"Mom?" Han Yuxi asked in surprise. "Who’s this man beside you?"
"He’s your father," Han Xiyue replied, stepping to the side for her daughter to see. "I finally found him and wanted you two to meet."
"Hmm, so this is my father, huh."
Han Yuxi stepped out of the room and took a closer look at Jiang Yun to inspect her so-called father. Jiang Yun did the same, wanting to confirm they shared the same blood.
With a quick glance, Jiang Yun knew what Han Xiyue said was the truth, as there was a clear feeling of a blood connection. This was a sensation that was impossible to fake and could only mean that it was genuine.
Having confirmed Han Yuxi was indeed his daughter, Jiang Yun wanted to greet her, but he was interrupted by Han Yuxi herself.
"He doesn’t seem like much. Are you sure he is my dad? He’s the man who managed to get with someone like you? I can’t feel even a bit of energy from him, which can only mean he is either incredibly weak or much stronger than me."
"He is indeed your father," Han Xiyue reassured her. "You might not be able to sense his energy, but your dad is much stronger than me."
"I’ll trust you for now, but what’s his name?"
"Your father’s name is Jiang Yun, and back when you were born, your father was a powerful Immortal Emperor."
"Jiang Yun, you say. So why have you brought him after all this time? It's not like I need a father anymore now that I’m already an adult."
"I wanted you to meet your father at least once. It wasn’t his intention to leave us alone back then and he only found out about you recently."
"Well, I met him, so what now? I’ve been fine my whole life without him, so there’s no point in getting to know him now. Not to mention we are practically strangers."
"Don’t you want to get to know your father at least a little?"
"I don’t feel a real need to, though. Haven’t we been fine even without him?"
"That may be true, but having him around now can help us solve problems we couldn’t do anything about before."
"What would that be? Do you want him to chase away those Immortal Emperor suitors? I highly doubt just having him around will make a difference. Not to mention it might even make the situation worse."
"Then what do you want to do? I have already brought your father to meet with you."
"He can do whatever, I don’t care. He can just go back to doing whatever he was doing before you brought him. It's not like having him around will make a difference."
Han Xiyue was surprised by how negative her daughter was about meeting her father. Originally, Han Xiyue thought her daughter would be fine meeting him, so this reaction was unexpected.
Han Xiyue could no longer think of what to say, as there was no other way to explain the situation to her daughter. Seeing this, Jiang Yun decided to step in himself.
Jiang Yun took out a bag of treasures and tossed it toward Han Yuxi. The bag contained all kinds of resources, ranging from cultivation pills to Immortal weapons.
"What’s this?" Han Yuxi asked.
"These are cultivation resources that you will need to continue growing stronger," Jiang Yun explained. "I may not have been there for you throughout your life, but I want to help you now that I am here."
"I don’t need it," Han Yuxi rejected, pushing the bag back toward Jiang Yun. "I don’t want to owe you anything. Not to mention, I can earn cultivation resources myself."
"Just keep it," Jiang Yun insisted, pushing it back. "This small amount of resources means nothing to me, and I can easily get more."
This made Han Yuxi curious about what exactly was in the bag for Jiang Yun to be so nonchalant. Looking inside, Han Yuxi was shocked by what she saw. It contained several treasures that she had never seen before.
"Where did you get all this?" Han Yuxi asked in disbelief. "Most of these things are practically impossible to get. Are you lying to me about it being nothing much?"
"To me, it really is nothing much," Jiang Yun replied casually. "I have mountains more that I can show you if you don’t believe me."
"Yeah? Then prove it, or else you're a liar."
Jiang Yun then took off his ring and handed it over to Han Yuxi. It contained all the treasures that Jiang Yun had hoarded, and it was enough to make anyone cry in envy.
Looking inside, Han Yuxi was dumbstruck. It contained unending amounts of cultivation pills that were piled up like trash. Along with the pills, there was a smaller, yet still dazzling amount of Immortal realm weapons. Aside from these were even more herbs and ores.
Still not wanting to believe it, Han Yuxi started taking some of the treasures out to confirm it wasn’t an illusion, and the area was soon piled high with Immortal treasures.
Now with the proof in front of her, Han Yuxi could no longer deny what Jiang Yun said, as the evidence was simply undeniable.
"I’ll take it," Han Yuxi replied, now putting everything back into the storage ring. "This bag of treasures really is not worth much to you, so I’ll just keep it."
After putting all the treasures back into the ring, Han Yuxi handed the ring back to Jiang Yun and stored the bag of treasures somewhere safe.
"If you need anything else, you can just take it," Jiang Yun offered.
"No need," Han Yuxi refused. "What you gave me is already more than enough. If you want to give so badly, give some to my mother."
Thinking about what Han Yuxi said, Jiang Yun agreed that Han Xiyue indeed deserved to have some treasures herself. Jiang Yun then tossed his ring to Han Xiyue.
"Take what you want," Jiang Yun offered. "There is no need to be polite. If you want the whole ring, I’ll just give it to you."
"No need," Han Xiyue replied, unwilling to take advantage of Jiang Yun.
Wanting to hand it back, Han Xiyue remembered how hard it had been for her daughter to return the treasures, so she took some of the less valuable items and gave the ring back.
"Is that all you want?" Jiang Yun asked, dissatisfied with Han Xiyue taking so little.
"I don’t need much, so this is enough," Han Xiyue assured him.
"Suit yourself," Jiang Yun replied, putting his ring back on. "Since I’m not welcome right now, I’ll come back later. If you need anything, you can just find me, as I will be getting myself a room nearby."
Leaving it at that, Jiang Yun went to find his own lodgings.
