Chapter 114: Chapter 113: Mystery

On a Monday morning inside the bounds of the Balland and Barnes bakery while Caesar was moping the ground, her mind flowed with thoughts.

"Good thing Balland called yesterday and let me know that we are resuming work. We were supposed to have the flyer work with Mr Pulpsack’s fiancee but she cancelled it because of unforseen issues that came up so I’ll be working with her on Tuesdays immediately.

Though I did get a call yesterday from the cashier work I applied for and negotiated I will only be there as a Friday and Saturday worker... Not a bad deal actually."

Caesar drifted her sight towards Gura who was also mopping the ground and noted Gura was staring at her.

Despite Gura’s plain visage, her body language subtly displayed fear, leaving her to quickly turn her gaze away and continue mopping.

Later after Caesar had walked out of the restroom, she overheard a group of coworkers talking with each other.

"Yo, you saw the news yesterday about the debt and Hot Mike?" A female beastfolk with red hair asked.

"Yeah. That was crazy! A rocket launcher? Why not a gun or something else?!" A fair skinned male human asked.

"Or could have just paid back the money." A dark skinned human said, "I know a thousand and five hundred yons is no laughing matter but why borrow it if you’re not going to pay?"

"I don’t know. That place isn’t normal at all." A bespectacled fair skinned beastfolk said, "There is always one thing or the other going down there. I can barely recall a time shit was ever normal there."

"Isn’t that how you’d describe Bellwa city?" A fair skinned woman with long black hair asked, "This city is the definition of common sense taking a vacation.

The other day on the road, I saw a naked guy riding on alligator with chains while being chased by the police.

His words were come catch me ’cocksuckers’."

"Did they catch him?" The dark skinned man asked.

"Of course, they caught him." The woman answered, "There was no way they wouldn’t catch him.

As far as I’m concerned, everything in Bellwa city is just weird."

Caesar in hearing what they discussed, had a memory of herself walking on the road yesterday in the night with her head bowed low.

While walking, a masked man from out of nowhere jumped in front of her and pulled out a knife from his back pocket.

"Give me your money, now!" The man said.

"Hm?" Caesar said as she raised her head to gaze at the man.

"You heard me! Cash... Now!" The man said.

Caesar stared at the man for a time with her usual unreadable demeanor, observing his patched black top and torn jeans.

"I ain’t playing games, lady!" The man continued as Caesar took notice of the mismatched shoes he wore, "Unless you want this knife going through your belly, give me yor fucking money!"

Caesar raised her head back up, still maintaining her plain expression.

Caesar slightly tilted her head to the left while her irises glowed, however before any move could be made, she took notice of a presence behind the robber.

The robber catching on to what Caesar noticed, turned back and saw someone approaching him from the shadows.

"Who the fuck are you?" The robber asked in confusion.

"Me?" The person asked, "I am the bane of all evil and the protector of the innocent...!

I am..."

"Protector man!!" The man said as he finally stepped out of the shadows with his fists on his waist.

The man had a red mask covering his face.

He wore a white top and white jeans that was overlayed with a red underwear that had a white writing "Protector"

Round his shoulders was a red blanket.

And his footwear were red sneakers with white accents.

Caesar’s face become blank and her right brow twitched.

The robber unable to control himself , dropped to the ground and burst out in laughter.

"Laugh now, evil doer but when I am done, you will quiver in fear for I shall protect this woman!" The protector man said.

The words of man made the laughter of the robber increase.

Caesar stayed silent at the awkwardness of the scene for a while before she sighed and walked past the laughing robber.

"A word of advice: Get help before it’s too late." Caesar said to Protector man as she walked past him as well.

After remembering that moment, Caesar softly closed her eyes.

"Caesar!" A masculine voice called.

Caesar turned to the direction of the voice and saw the person to be Balland.

"Sir?" Caesar said.

"Come see me in my office." Balland said to Caesar as he turned his back to walk away.

Caesar stood still for some seconds before she followed after Balland.

As soon as she left, two coworkers started whispering among themselves.

"Yo, you think it’s true? That she is having some intimacy with the boss himself?" A dark skinned female beastfolk asked a fair skinned female beastfolk.

"I don’t know and I don’t want to know because it is none of my business." The fair skinned female beastfolk answered as she crossed her arms.

"Fair enough." The dark skinned beastfolk said.

Gura on the other hand who had just seen this, had a quick recollection Caesar’s cold and frightening gaze at the Queen Biggie which made Gura after the remembrance to cover her right arm with her left and slightly shudder.

Elsewhere a van was packed near a small white house surrounded with trees.

AJ Zero who at the time was wearing a brown cap and shirt along with blue jeans and black shoes, had delivered a package to a fair skinned elderly beastfolk couple.

"Thank you so much for your service." The elderly beastfolk woman said with a smile.

"N-no, it’s nothing, ma’am. I’m just doing my job." AJ said while smiling with both eyes closed.

"You’re so young, handsome and yet hardworking. If only our son was as hardworking as you, he wouldn’t have ended up in a cell." The elderly beastfolk man said as he eyed AJ from the bottom to the top.

The elderly lady tapped the arm of her husband and forced herself to continue smiling in front of AJ.

"I believe that would be all. Thank you." The beastfolk woman said to AJ.

The woman brought out a few yon notes and rux coins and gave them to AJ.

"You’re welcome." AJ said as he bowed himself.

AJ turned his back on the couple and entered the delivery van.

At moment AJ left, the elderly beastfolk lady’s face hardened and she immediately side-eyed her husband.

Later in the afternoon as AJ walked down down the streets, wearing a blue T-shirt, a white knickers and black sandals, he noticed the awkward stares from the people nearby.

Some stared at AJ with indifference and some with pity.

Among the people staring at him, a green haired beastfolk woman shook her head and whispered.

"Poor kid."

At first AJ felt uneasy with gazes but he ignored the people and continued walking forward.

While walking, his phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it out to see the alert.

On his screen it showed a message from Caesar which read "Got us a gym. If you’re not busy with work then bring your ass over. And in case you are wondering, the name of the gym is Simon Iron.

Sent the location to your phone."

AJ stared at his screen with an arched brow before clicking a few more times.

"This street?" AJ asked softly.

AJ let out a small sigh and put his phone back in his pocket.

Right before AJ could take a step forward, he felt a strange presence that made him halt.

AJ quickly looked over his shoulder and saw a tall female human standing over six-foot-three and a half inches behind him.

The woman had a pale skin, a long open curtain jet black hair that faded into purple tips and mutated purple irises.

She wore a grey colored coat and a black inner wear.

On her lower body was a white trouser with a baggy mouth round her ankles.

And finally on her feet were a pair of black shoes.

"It feels odd seeing you in person." The woman said.

AJ however didn’t reply her but instead fully turned and stepped back a little.

"U-uhm, do I... Know you?" AJ asked, "Have w-we met before?"

"Oh my. Where are my manners? My apologies." The woman said as she formally bowed, "My name is Morgan Qrow and no, we haven’t."

"Okay..." AJ cautiously said.

"Strange, isn’t it? Meeting you here in person? I moved all the way from Manuwuge city to Bellwa complete a project and leave." Morgan said, "I expected us to meet later in the ero-ring but it looks like fate brought us here today."

"Ero-ring? You’re an ero-wrestler?" AJ asked.

"Yes. Just like you." Morgan answered, "And your opponent this Wednesday."

"Opponent? But you didn’t ask me for a match neither have I accepted your challenge." AJ said in confusion.

"Do not worry about that. I made myself your opponent after your victory against Sol on that last week." Morgan replied, "With a little sweet talk to the higher ups, they were more than eager to make me your opponent.

Though, I was annoyed that other talents were demanding a match from you especially those three bullies but that’s by the way."

"Anyway, I look forward to facing you in the ring. May we bring the best out in each other." Morgan said as she extended her hand forward for a handshake.

AJ stared her hand for some seconds before he reluctantly shook it.

After shaking her hand, Morgan let out a small cold smile.

"See you on Wednesday ... Slayer." Morgan said.

As soon as Morgan turned her back on AJ and began to walk away, AJ stared at his palm and watched it slowly quiver.

Morgan on the other hand while she was still walking , her smile swiftly vanished.

Her demeanor became still like stone while her irises glowed.
