Chapter 115: Chapter 115: I Am Mrs. Dalton
Renee Morgan: "?" He dismantled the defense system on Team Blue’s tower door?
Jay Monroe: "?" He even rebuilt the tower’s defense system?
Renee and Jay Monroe, shocked, looked at each other in disbelief.
The viewers in the livestream thought Jay Monroe and Renee Morgan looked like total newbies, exactly like how they were before they started reading the novel.
They carried a calmness that ordinary people could never hope to achieve:
[My husband is the heir to the Freyos tycoon—he can pilot yachts, disarm mines barehanded, and dismantle and rebuild top-tier defense systems... Please call me Mrs. Dalton.]
[I’m the second Mrs... ] She’s the type to play with puns.
[I’m the third Mrs... ] A man who’s rich and good-looking but never comes home—seriously, that’s nice.
[I—I’m the runaway White Moonlight of the tycoon’s heir...] Hoping the young master’s bodyguards can reach my five-square-meter rental in three seconds.
[Then I must be the beloved little wife he spoils after experiencing every storm in life.] Basically, they’ve arranged every woman Dane will ever meet, crystal clear.
The random guys watching the screen full of pink comments shed tears of envy.
Dane and Jay Monroe insisted on ambushing Team Red Tower.
Renee Morgan couldn’t stop them, so she just let it go.
The other four in the strike team were stationed outside to watch for movement. Besides the troops guarding Team Red Tower, they had to watch out for Team Red sending troops back from the sea.
If they ambushed Team Red Tower and happened to bump into a returning large squad, they’d be in deep trouble.
The four strike team members outside actually had it easy, and didn’t mind the assignment.
Since they were planning an ambush on Team Red Tower, Renee, Jay Monroe, and Dane had to set out early to scout the routes around the building for a safe getaway.
Dane and Jay Monroe went together.
The four strike team members spread out around the perimeter.
Renee Morgan operated solo, circling Team Red Tower once, then picked a tall building right next to it as her base.
In the base competition area, besides Team Blue and Team Red’s towers, all the other buildings were empty or abandoned factories—no street lights, pitch black everywhere.
Renee, slinging a sniper rifle, casually went upstairs, silently memorizing every escape route before finally settling at the fourth floor window.
Last time, when she rescued Jay Monroe, she shot from the third floor—Renee thought the fourth floor was the absolute best spot for sniping.
Once everything was ready, Renee got bored, so she grabbed her sniper rifle, using its powerful scope to watch Team Red’s patrol squads below.
Jay Monroe and Dane, after scouting the exit routes, were about to connect with Renee Morgan for voice chat.
But Renee beat them to it, connecting with both at the same time, informing them of Team Red Tower’s patrol squad shifts—the timing and the numbers.
Plus, she pointed out the easiest direction to sneak in, and the most likely surveillance blind spots—but, they’d have to act during the patrol shift change, or it’d be super easy to get caught.
Jay Monroe paused briefly, then smirked: "Renee, you really seem like..."
Renee Morgan: "...Hm?"
Like what?
So much time passed that Renee thought he’d hung up, only to hear Jay Monroe finally say: "A habitual offender."
Renee Morgan decisively cut the mic.
Nothing good ever comes out of his mouth.
PM sharp.
Jay Monroe and Dane, following the plan, snuck in through the surveillance blind spot, scaled the wall, and entered the tower’s backyard.
The two of them crouched low, moving quickly through the corridor.
Team Red Tower’s systems were pretty much the same as Team Blue’s.
Once the tower went into Level 1 combat status, all front and back doors activated their defense systems.
They got blocked outside the trap door.
Jay Monroe looked at Dane, frowning: "Do we need to go find some tools?"
Can’t blame Jay for not being ready—he had no idea there’d be another trap door outside the defense system.
The simulation video they watched in the conference room mostly showed which traps would activate once the defense system was switched on, what their effects would be...
If you don’t know, naturally you can’t prepare for it.
Dane shook his head, signaling Jay Monroe to step aside.
He hacked into the surveillance above the trap door first, then poked around for the door’s electronic chip, wedged his military knife in—moves fast, almost no noise, simple and brutal.
Definitely not like those legendary mysterious hackers or top-tier engineers—honestly, not even related.
Under Jay Monroe’s skeptical stare—"pop"—the door opened, and, surprisingly, no alarm sounded.
Once they were through the trap door, the hallway was lined with red lasers.
Dane flexed his arm, muscles popping, and walked right to the end of the red line, stabbing at it with his military knife.
The laser in mid-air twisted into a lump, then froze up completely.
Did... did it just crash?
"..."
Jay Monroe wasn’t sure how to rate Dane’s skills, but hey, no alarms went off.
They kept heading inside, running into all sorts of obstacles, which Dane proceeded to dismantle (read: destroy), one by one.
Jay Monroe followed behind, watching the magic military knife, recalling the defense system simulation back at Team Blue Tower.
These defense gadgets were specially developed for the base competition area—once triggered, they can kill on contact. For player safety, they’d been modified—now, they just injure you, trap you, or trigger an alarm...
He couldn’t help wondering, if it were the original setup—touch and you die—would Dane’s "stab everything" approach end up... blowing them up?
Jay Monroe never thought they’d get through the defense trap corridor so smoothly.
Originally, they planned to find the surveillance room, hack all tower cameras. But once they found it, there was literally nobody inside.
Team Red was sneakier than they expected—they didn’t follow the base’s official room labels for department setups.
In short, the surveillance room had zero computers, just a pile of supplies.
The medical room didn’t have medics, no medicine, just junk.
Medical staff didn’t have much use in the base competition—except for a few injuries, the rest of the time they’re basically dead weight.
When Team Red went for sea battle, they definitely brought medics—if not for combat wounds, at least for basic care.
Both teams, Blue and Red, each had four medics—they wouldn’t bring all of them onboard, not because the base needed them, just not that important.
After figuring all this out, Jay Monroe and Dane decided to flip the script—headed straight for the third floor, aiming for the most overlooked security room.
The security room was by the window—usually the hangout for security staff and patrol team members between shifts.
Who would’ve guessed the surveillance room was hiding here?
Jay Monroe and Dane peeked through the window—two people in red uniforms inside, staring at the surveillance screens as more cameras got hacked. One grabbed the communicator to contact Team Red’s commander, and the other got ready to head downstairs to check things out.
