Chapter 364 - Chapter 364 Completely off guard

Stephan summoned his assistant, Vance, to his office.

As soon as Vance entered, he asked in a businesslike manner, “President, is there anything you need?”

Stephan glanced at Vance, crossed his legs, and smiled warmly, his handsome face radiating a spring-like warmth.

“My girlfriend has agreed to marry me.”

Vance blinked.

Caught completely off guard, he was hit with a sudden dose of relationship fluff right in the face.

It hit him hard, stinging his face.

Wait, President, your girlfriend agreed to marry you... what does that have to do with him?!

Was it really necessary to shove that in his face?

Work was already annoying enough, and now he had to endure a public display of affection.

He was seething inside, but on the surface, he had to put on a smile. “Mr. Hudson, congratulations! Congratulations on finding your perfect match and winning the heart of your beloved.”

Stephan nodded, his expression serious.

“I’ve received your blessings.”

Vance eyed him.

What a shameless man.

“President, you called me in... surely it wasn’t just to show off... ahem... to tell me that your girlfriend agreed to marry you?”

Upon hearing this, Stephan immediately shot Vance an appreciative look.

“Yep.” His long, slender fingers tapped lightly on the table as his deep, magnetic voice spoke in a measured tone.

“I’m planning to propose to her formally soon. Go find a few event planning companies for me and help me plan a romantic and memorable proposal for my girlfriend.”

Vance sighed.

Stephan raised his eyes to look at her, a friendly smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

“Assistant Vance, this is such a simple matter... I’m sure you’ll handle it perfectly for me, right?”

Vance nodded.

Man, money’s hard to earn, and this is a real pain in the ass.

Even though he was cursing inwardly, he had to put on a cheerful smile. “Of course, Mr. Hudson. I’ll take care of it.”

Stephan nodded. “Hmm. First, have them come up with a few proposals as soon as possible. I’ll review them personally, discuss the details, and then decide what to do.”

After all, this was his first and only proposal, he couldn’t cut corners. Every detail had to be perfect.

Vance thought to himself, It’s clear how seriously the CEO is taking this proposal, personally reviewing the plans and discussing the details. He’s never been this dedicated, not even when signing a ten-billion-dollar contract.

He didn’t dare take this lightly either, so he nodded and said, “Alright, I understand.”

Stephan waved his hand. “Alright, you may go.”

After Vance left, Stephan propped his chin in his hand and pondered: he was determined to give Alana a proposal she would never forget!

It was not just about the proposal... the wedding was also going to be grand.

***********

Alana went out for lunch with Eve.

When Eve found out that Alana had already been accepted by her boyfriend’s parents and they were even planning the wedding date, she couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.

“Why do I get the feeling your boyfriend and his parents are afraid you’ll run away? So they’re rushing the wedding to snatch you home? If your boyfriend weren’t the famous CEO of the Hudson Group, I’d almost think his whole family were some kind of terrifying human traffickers.”

Alana gave a low chuckle. It was a crude way of putting it, but there was truth to it... she really did feel that way.

“But it’s not quite that extreme. Stephan’s parents actually respect my opinion quite a bit; it’s mostly him who’s in a hurry.”

Eve clicked her tongue. “This is the first time I’ve ever met a man who’s so desperate to get married!”

Alana propped her chin in her hand. “Come to think of it, he’s really been putting in a lot of effort lately to move our relationship forward. He’s always been the one leading, and he’s protected me so well that I haven’t had to worry about a thing.”

Besides, she felt that everything had gone so smoothly since they’d started dating, from the beginning of their relationship to talking about marriage, without any real setbacks.

Perhaps because she had faced so many setbacks as a child, fate had taken pity on her, sparing her from many hardships on the path of love.

Besides, she truly felt lucky, Stephan happened to be the man she loved most in this lifetime, and he happened to love her so deeply too. It all seemed fated.

Eve smiled and said, “Isn’t that wonderful? It just goes to show that he genuinely wants to marry you and clear away every obstacle for you!”

Alana smiled slightly. “You’re right.”

Now that her future with Stephan was settled, she began to look forward to their wedding day.

She hoped that day would go just as smoothly as everything had so far.

Eve seemed to remember something and couldn’t help but ask, “By the way, since your boyfriend’s parents have already approved of you and you’re planning to get married, aren’t you going to tell your rival and that awful mother about this good news?”

Alana was taken aback. “Why would I tell them?”

Eve replied matter-of-factly, “To show off, of course! Aren’t they the ones who didn’t want you to stay with Stephan and even tried to stop you? But now you’re not only still with him, you’re getting married. If they found out, wouldn’t they be furious?”

Alana pouted.

Eve said, “If I were you, I’d call them right now and tell them. If it doesn’t drive them crazy, I’d make sure it does... I wouldn’t let them off easy!”

That was certainly true, but given Alana’s temperament, she simply couldn’t bring herself to act so brazenly.

Alana fell silent for a moment. “Right now, I just want to stay away from them. As long as Darla and Agnes don’t come looking for trouble, everything can be worked out.”

Eve speculated, “I don’t think they’ll let this go, so you’d better be careful.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than Alana’s phone rang.

Alana picked up her phone and saw it was an anonymous call with no contact information.

Although it was an anonymous call, she recognized the number... it had called her before and even sent her messages, so it left a strong impression on her.

That’s right... the owner of that number was Agnes.

Alana couldn’t help but furrow her brow.

Eve noticed her uneasy expression and asked curiously,

“Who’s calling?”

Alana took a deep breath. “Agnes.”

Eve was shocked. “Wow, isn’t she the bitch who abandoned you? Looks like I was right after all... they’re not going to let this go easily!”

Alana frowned again.

She had already made things perfectly clear to Agnes. She didn’t understand why Agnes was calling her now.

Could it be that she still wanted to persuade her to break up with Stephan for Darla’s sake?

If that were the case, Agnes was being far too kind to Darla.

Alana didn’t want to answer, so she hung up without hesitation and blocked the number.

Eve was puzzled by her reaction. “Why didn’t you answer? You should’ve picked up and given her a good scolding!”

“No thanks. It’ll ruin my mood. Blocking her is enough.”

“Oh my, you’re just too easygoing. If I were you, I would’ve picked up the phone ages ago and given her a piece of my mind.

How dare she come back after abandoning you for over a decade and act like she’s still in charge of your life? Does she even deserve it? Trash, trash, trash!”

Alana didn’t say anything. It wasn’t that she hadn’t cursed Agnes before, but it was useless, so there was no point in wasting her breath.

Eve could tell Alana didn’t want to delve deeper into the topic. She sighed and skillfully changed the subject.

“By the way, didn’t you suggest last time that I talk to my boyfriend and ask him to spend more time with me? I brought it up with him that very night. Guess what happened?”

Alana snapped back to attention, her curiosity piqued. “What happened?”
